New Traeger Update - Jan 15 2020

I am having problems also! 1300 Timberline First Generation says it is connect to my 2.4 ghz network! But my WiFire App locks up on opening page. 1300 says the software is the v03.00.00 and my IPhone App is 1.4.0. I am watching, trying recommends, and hoping some thing happens!

Same for me...not sure what Traeger resolve this! Hope to hear from them today!

I tried forgetting network, but it refuses to forget the network.
Traeger needs to hire some better software folks.
In this day and age there is no excuse for this. Especially with the cost

So true...Where did you find “forget network” I could not find in on my D2 controller. Thanks

Its under wifi information.
Maybe I have a different controller?

The worst part is, I cant forget the network, even if I wanted to fix it by connecting to another access point, I cant.
I really should have went with something else.

Looks like Traeger has another software update rolling out. I just received this email:

------------
Dear Traeger Customer,

We have important information regarding your WiFIRE connected grill. We have upgraded our WiFIRE platform to support future enhancements and provide a better user experience.

To ensure your grill connects to the new platform, please take the following steps:

  1. If you don’t have the Traeger App installed, download the Traeger App from theiTunes app store or Google Play. If you already have the Traeger App, make sure you have updated to the latest version.
  2. Connect your grill to WiFIRE.

  • If you are already connected your Traeger grill to WiFIRE, then make sure the newest version of the Traeger App is installed on your phone and paired and connected to your grill. Once connected with the latest version of the Traeger App, your grill will automatically receive a software update within 24 hours of being turned on. No further action is needed from you and you will soon enjoy the benefits of being paired to the new cloud system!

  • If you’ve never connected your Traeger grill to WiFIRE, after downloading the latest version of the Traeger App, simply connect to WiFIRE by following theseinstructions. After that, your grill will automatically update within 24 hours after you turn the power switch to the “On” position.

Please allow 24 hours to your grill to update. Once the 24 hours have passed and if you’d like to make sure your update was completed successfully, turn on your grill and go to Menu > Settings > About Grill. Underneath the grill model, you should see this sequence of numbers: “v02.00.00” if you have a D2 Pro, Ironwood or Timberline Grill. You will see "v03.00.00" if you have a Gen 1 Timberline or a Gen 1 Ironwood 885. If instead you see these numbers: “01.01.06”, then you may need to power your grill off and turn it on again, or disconnect and re-pair your Traeger App with WiFIRE.

Thank you for helping us make this transition as smooth as possible. We’re excited about providing you with a better experience going forward and what we have in store for the future. If you have any questions, please don’t hesitate to contact us at 1-800-TRAEGER.

Thank you,

Traeger Grills
I was told by support 2 days ago a new app would be issued 24 to 48hrs to solve connection problem. How can the grill get the new SW if you can’t connect to your WiFi? Still can’t connect WiFire and no new app on the Apple store

I have not connected mine since this started and am avoiding doing so. Is there any way I can prevent it from downloading the new firmware? I don't understand why they can't just revert to the last version until they get it fixed.

This would be comical if it weren't for my near $1K investment. Traeger needs to implement a regression testing procedure to confirm they haven't broken existing functionality before rolling out new updates. Any software development team worth their salt knows this. They are obviously flying by the seat of their pants recklessly rolling out untested updates.

To prevent my Pro575 from connecting to the WIFI, I unplugged my WIFI extender. The only positive note for having to use an extender. I am waiting for the "ALL CLEAR" before allowing mine to update.

What a PITA!!!!!!!

I too went through the uninstall-reinstall-forget network-re-pair process with no joy. Then miraculously last night it all started working again.
Their comment about the update being about cloud connectivity explains all the problems. It was a server programming problem on their end. It appears our grills and phones don’t actually talk to each other rather the grill sends its data to their servers in the cloud and the phone app gets it from there. How else would be able to control your grill when you’re not at home.

Bouncing it through their cloud would be correct, as do my home security cameras.

I still cant "Forget Network" to try to reconfigure the WIFI. I can Ping the Grill from my computer, so I know its connected to my WIFI, but I have watched my firewall and the grill makes no attempts to reach out to the internet what so ever.

I have no "forget Network" option as well now. Im in the same boat as everyone else with the new buggy software. On Saturday I was number 31 in que for tech support. Monday when i called I spoke to the person answering the calls and they said at this point they were just taking names and numbers and when they have a fix they will call us.

I have a timberline 850, and having similar issues.

My iPhone App won't connect to the grill even though the grill is connected to wifi.

The grill is connected to my home wifi network, but now I cannot "forget network" to try again and resync it with the iPhone app.

Before software 3.0 I was able to forget the network and then try again. But now it will just sit for forever and never forget the network settings.

It is definitely an app / cloud issue as the grill is connected to my wifi just fine but the app can't / won't connect to it.

Hopefully something happens in the cloud over the next 24 hours or we get some type of update for the app so it recognizes it is connected.
