New Traeger Update - Jan 15 2020

Same here. Traeger App hangs on launch and doesn’t make it past the logo splash screen. I’ve been working with them on a meat probe +\- 20 degree variance issue for the past two weeks and don’t really have the emotional energy to explain this new problem to the warm body in Manila who answers the phone. I’m counting on one of you brave folks to report this : )

Strange....it's now connected but the grill and probe temps are rapidly changing on Wifire but the grill temp itself is steady.
Interesting...I was trying to connect to Wifire and couldn’t open app. Reinstalled app and now it won’t connect and Traeger app screen is frozen...brrrrh

Good news.... Sort of. I'm able to check and change grill temp via WiFire but the app is still wonky at times. Probe temp when it shows is spot on when checked manually with a thermapen Mk4.

Try deleting grill, then go through the pairing again (which includes the naming of your grill). Worked for me but the app does seem possessed at times. But I have been able to control the temp and probe settings through the WiFire app.(so far). I currently have a ham on and am closely monitoring it to ensure the temps don't spike up or down. At this point, I have no confidence to put a brisket on and go to work.

1. Updates to cloud connectivity to improve response time between grill and app

Just fired up my 885 to do some elk brats for dinner. Set it at 400 degrees, and WiFire app is bouncing back and forth between "grill igniting, 400 degrees", "grill preheating, 400 degrees" and "grill idle, 170 degrees". Temperature bouncing back and forth between 32 and 39 degrees (ambient air temp is currently 30 degrees). I'll see how this simple cook goes, and may try re-pairing the grill and app, but appears the app developers have dropped the ball once again.

EDIT: App loads on my iPhone, but hangs when trying to open it on my iPad,

Having the same issue on my 575. App reads the correct #s at first then spazzes out and gets all wonky. Good thing is, at least the settings on the actual grill aren't fluctuating.

Just spoke to Traeger and they're aware of the glitches. Supposedly we should see another update within the next 24hrs. Time will tell.

This is why I wish I were in control of when to install an app update and trigger a firmware update.
I agree... Feels like we're guinea pigs sometimes. I'll be okay with it as long as they fix it within the next 24 hours. Fingers crossed.

I'm not sure about Android products, but I know for a fact you can manually control when to update an app on Apple products. I know so because I set it to where I manually update apps, operating systems, etc. on my iPhone, Mac Book, and iPad.

Im glad its -35 out, my grill has yet to be updated because it too cold for me to go out, plug it in and have it do its thing. Ill just wait till the next update in the next day or so, hopefully before beef ribs on sunday....

I got a phone call and email back from Traeger. Evidently they experienced a server issue last night which caused the sporadic readings I experienced. They said it's all resolved and apologized for the experience. I'm home today and just verified my WiFire is back to normal and all readings between the grill and app are consistent. I hope everyone that was having similar issues will find that their issues have been resolved as well.

New 2020 Update installed now I can’t connect my iPhone anymore. Grill reads home network. 3 times with CS and they don’t have an answer. Worked great until that update.
