New Traeger Update - Jan 15 2020

I have no "forget Network" option as well now. Im in the same boat as everyone else with the new buggy software. On Saturday I was number 31 in que for tech support. Monday when i called I spoke to the person answering the calls and they said at this point they were just taking names and numbers and when they have a fix they will call us.
On the D2 I have the same problem of “forget network” I do see forget network on my phones WiFi setting under network WiFi for my Traeger.
I have a timberline 850, and having similar issues.

My iPhone App won't connect to the grill even though the grill is connected to wifi.

The grill is connected to my home wifi network, but now I cannot "forget network" to try again and resync it with the iPhone app.

Before software 3.0 I was able to forget the network and then try again. But now it will just sit for forever and never forget the network settings.

It is definitely an app / cloud issue as the grill is connected to my wifi just fine but the app can't / won't connect to it.

Hopefully something happens in the cloud over the next 24 hours or we get some type of update for the app so it recognizes it is connected.
agree and it’s the same problem I’m having with ironwood 875. Hope there’s a fix soon...so frustrating

I did a quick elk tenderloin cook last night. Everything seemed to work fine for me with the app this time, compared to last time.

I found they're email instructions to be misleading. I made sure my app was updated and tried to connect my grill to wifi but it wouldn't. Like others, I couldn't forget the network. I just left the grill on standby and when I came back 4 hours later, the updates had been completed and it was connected to my wifi.

Are you able to now control your grill with the app?

When I launch the app on my iPhone, and go to the wifire tab, it asks me to connect to Traeger wifire as if it isn't connected. And this is the problem.

The grill is already connected to my wifi.
The phone app is not, and asks you to connect.

You can't connect the app to the grill when the grill is already connected -- and now we cannot "forget the network" so we're stuck with a grill that is connected, and a phone app that cant reconnect because the grill is already connected.

EDIT: I imagine this is a bigger problem than people think. I almost didn't sign up just to post, but I would imagine hundreds of people if not thousands of users are having this issue. This post alone has 3,000 views, and I doubt many overall users of Traeger have googled the issue, and found this thread. Not good for Traeger. Hopefully a fix comes soon.

I updated my T850 as soon as I got the email, then the next cook, the grill no longer connected. I tried re-connecting the network, this screwed the connection entirely. According to Traeger support, when resetting the network, the phone connects to the grill as an access point directly, it then passes your home network info to the grill, when then connects to your WiFi. The problem is mainly with iOS devices, they aren't provisioning the grill correctly, so it can't download some needed certificate files to come up on your network, and so won't connect any longer. He said that the latest iOS updates changed security settings that Traeger missed.

The rep said 24-48 hours and a new app version would come out, so far they are past this window and still no progress. I tried to use an android tablet as well but it won't make it thru setup either. So currently my grill is "wireless" in the real sense, it's on its own until a fix is released.

Duh. My bad. I hadn't gone that far and you're correct in that I have the same issue.

Just another reason not to jump at the most recent update especially with Traegers track record.. Always try to give it time for the bugs to settle out. I always set my apps to update manually.

Once the software upgrade was announced, our phone applications ceased. We have attempted no less than a dozen times to disable and download the app on three different phones and / or tablets. The iphone will download but simply buffers. The android will not permit us to sign in. We even changed the password several times at the advise of whomever answered the Traeger line last week. I was assured that a "fix" was in process last week end and when I called again last evening, I was advised that there is a problem with the cloud program and that a new fix is scheduled by next Monday. Love the grill, but Traeger does not appear to have a clue regarding software issues.

Yup. Lots of connection issues like this since April 2019.

How do you stop the grill from updating?

You likely can't stop the grill from updating itself once you have updated the app. You can however not allow the app to update if you manually update your apps. My understanding is that the grill won't update until the app is updated. I am still using the old version of the app ( iOS and Android) and my grill hasn't updated so far and all is working as it has been. Traeger is new to this which has been proven over the last 9 months with apps and grill forwarded not playing nice together. I am a firm believer to wait until the updates are proven on all devices including phone and tablet software updates. Just because it's an update doesn't mean it's better or will work properly right away. Lots of teething pains can be had.

I spoke with Traeger tech support yesterday afternoon and was DO NOT delete the phone app. He said this will put you to the back of the line for the update. I deleted mine last weekend and he speculated that I would not get the update now until this weekend. He said once the phone updates, it will connect to the grill and allow the grill to update

I have automatic updates turned off on my iPhone but it looks like a new version was downloaded last week. How did that happen? What don't I have turned off?

My Pro575 updated within minutes of turning it on. Connection is not an issue and lag time seems to be better than before. The only issue now is the temp. I'm doing a cook today and it's 10 celsius outside and I can't get it above 325 (set at 350). Using Pecan pellets that are brand new so not damp or anything. Not sure what's up but temp is off and never was before the update.
