Pro 575 Not Achieving Temperatures

Newbie here. Bought a 575 last weekend and it’s off by 85°. Contacted Traeger this morning. Immediately told me they were sending me a new rtd. Mine currently does not look like the one silver one posted. Firmware and software are up to date. Hopefully the rtd fixes it. If not, she’s going back
A number of us with this issue have been told that the RTDs are back-order to end of July. Best to keep an eye on your return window....

I really want to like this thing. They are making it really hard. I want to return it but I also just want it to work lol. They told me 2 days to process order and 5-7 days for delivery. So I guess we will see!

They won't tell you it will be longer untill you call and complain around day 10 lol. I hope you do get it within a week as I hope all others get them and get them solved sooner than later.

Hi all New to the forum as well as a Traeger and smoking. Bought my Pro 575 on June 3rd, did four cooks on it and not truely happy. I know there is a learning curve as there is to everything. But when my high temp is 425 and display is 451 and internal temp on a brand new thermometer is 350m it is hard to say it is me. Called Traeger three time the first two were with a young gal, the third time was with a young kid. Saying we measure temps at three spots and it is an average temp displayed..........hold up all off one thermal couple sensor? WTF! So me being me i have had many encounters with bad thermal couples, i work in a dental lab and all our oven have them and i have seen it all in the past 18 yrs. I get a 25 degree difference but 75 to 100 degrees? Really. He then went on to tell me oh yeah the meat doesn't fully cook on the outside but it is good inside. Okay, not an excuse.

I am glad to see that i am not the only one having this issue, 17 day old smoker with newest firmware has issues. My friend has had one for 5 years and loves it, my brother in law has one over a year and is getting amazing results. I am trying get a hold of the sales rep from the store i bought it from, and yes an authorized dealer. Just want to find a fix, wondering if i should of gotten the ironwood 650 instead, high temp, and other stuff as well.

Thoughts?

I am super excited to learn the art of smoking once i find a resolve.

Thanks

Sevan

Yes, you have lots and lots of company. The Ironwood doesn't have these problems, so it depends if you want to shell out more money to Traeger to upgrade. This is why several of us on this forum have returned our 575s and went with a different company. For example I am now a very satisfied owner of a RecTec Stampede.

I was very glad that I purchased my 575 from Home Depot and they took it back with no questions asked. Hopefully Traeger will fix this problem and then you'll be set.

I'v wanted to get a Traeger since like 3 years ago, i'm hangin in there.

But when i call Traeger CS they say everything is good and these units are better then the analog units. LOL Why lie when the customer already bought it?

The grill is great. There just appears to be two issues that will probably both be resolved shortly.

Some people got grills shipped with bad RTDs. Traeger sent some replacement RTDs out but clearly they were overwhelmed and the replacements they had in stock appeared to be bad too. It looks like they are now waiting on a new shipment of redesigned RTDs (probably coming from China) that will be arriving in July.

There was also a firmware issue that was causing the grill to display the wrong temperature and to have issues holding low temps in the smoke range (180F - 225F). They pushed out a patch two weeks ago that definitely fixed the smoke range issue but there is still a temp gap at higher temps. As an example, if I set the grill to 450F, an external thermometer shows 410F-415F. It’s not a huge gap but people who also have a bad RTD might be seeing much bigger gaps and this might be complicating the problem and the potential fix. Rumour is that another firmware patch will be pushed out soon (hoping tomorrow but who knows).

I’m confident everything will get sorted out despite the noise. Despite these initial bugs I’ve cooked a ton of meals on this grill and it works great. The beauty of this wifi enabled grill is that fixes get pushed out over the internet.

BTW...This is all just my own personal guessing. I don’t work for Traeger. Hoping Traeger will send me a T-shirt for being patient and supportive ??

I'm hoping the same results. But the grill has the most recent firmware, hope it's just a bad rdt. But the lies and denial from CS is a joke, Just admit yes there is a problem and be on top instead of being looked down on for lying . I will be giving them a call again on monday and asking for a replacement probe. But keeping an eye on those that are getting them first. lol

Also curios as the Ironwood series are fine, they have their thermancouple high in the grill almost near the top and the pro 575 is like 1.5 " off the top of the grill grate. Not sure if the placement is the rdt probe can be super crucial.
