If possible you need to return the grill and get your money back. You can always purchase it again “if” Traeger corrects the problem. I know I have posted this suggestion several times. I hope you can get your money back. What is really irritating me is Traeger is still sending emails telling us to buy a grill that they know is faulty.
This ^^^^^^
I sold my Traeger Jr. for $200 after 2 years of use (purchased at Costco for $299 with cover) and picked up the Century 22 from Costco. I put it together and the storage door would not close without force. The bigger problem was the smoke setting NEVER worked other than starting it. It would always end up in an error. The kicker was when the heat shield over the fire pot warped to the point that I could not put it back in (thanks to a design flaw). Traeger customer service told me they did not stock that part anymore and to wait to hear from them for 10 business days. Two weeks later, no call from Traeger. No problem. I returned a 9 month old grill to Costco for a full refund. Turns out they changed the model and I bought the current Century 22, the one with the useless warming oven.
It's been great, and works wonderful on smoke. I still have it.
Traeger customer service is hit or miss. Lately it's been hit. I bought the fold down shelf for my Century 22 and after a couple of years, it's starting to rust in places. I sent pics and they sent me a new one.
I bought a new Ironwood 885 with the shelf and I bought the cover. The cover had a place where the seam was not properly stitched. I sent a pic and they sent me a new one.
While I did not buy my Ironwood from Costco, I bought it from my local dealer where I've bought my Big Green Eggs. If I have a problem with it and Traeger was not responsive, I'd take it up with my dealer, just like with Costco.
So far, I've been happy with Traeger Customer Service and my Traegers. My issues were solved one way or another.
I could have spent the money on a Rec Tec, Yoder, Pitts & Spits, or even a Timberline 1300, but the Ironwood 885 made the best sense for me and with the folding shelf (which should be standard IMHO) it's a fantastic grill.
