Pellets Pellet Storage Solutions

Hi all -

Just getting started with the Traeger. Long time charcoal and wood BBQer, but I'm really liking the Traeger - limited babysitting and so far great results!

Anyway - when I get started with something new I tend to get into it quick. This isn't any different. I have been trying out all the flavors of pellets but wasn't a fan of storing them in the bags. I wanted them to be easily accessible, but without taking up a ton of room. They will end up living in the garage so moisture and heat should not be too much of a problem. I checked out the forum here and thanks for the ideas.

I settled on the Kingsford bins, but using tape or cutting and sticking on the bag labels wasn't sitting well with my adult-onset OCD. So I learned how to cut some vinyl. First one was the hardest but the rest went quickly. Finding images for the icons that were nice and sharp at size was also a challenge. Tried to match up vinyl colors with the bag colors, though there were limited colors available and just made do in some cases.

I think they turned out well and keep that OCD in check :)

I use dog food containers. You can pour or scoop out pellets.

I do need to figure a better labeling system though.

A 3D printed magnetic chute would be great.
I just got a Traeger Pro 575 that I won from an office competition ...this chute looks like something I could whip up pretty quickly in Tinkercad !!!😁👍🏻 Nothing like waking up to a nicely printed 3d project in the morning!!!

I have been buying these plus the lids:

Probably a little expensive but works well.

Not my official test yet, but this is the only dust from this whole HD bucket filled with Bear Mountain pellets...

And this is how I SCOOP them out, I never pour!!

I've been getting buckets at WallyWorld and Gamma Screw Seal Lids at Lowe's (not exactly cheap at $7+ a lid!!!....Should keep the pellets dry and the flange on the Gamma Lid should keep any sawdust from going into the hopper...even though I sift mine anyway too!!!

I’m going to try to design plans for a 3D printable version. Just got Blender installed on my computer.
Did you ever get the 3D design done on your Chute in Blender???....I'm guessing you do a bit of 3D printing? If you don't have one designed yet, I can probably work one up on TinkerCAD.

That bucket has that same lid, you just don't see it... and I used the scoop on purpose to try and keep all the dust inside... I'll be doing a SIFT TEST of 3 brands soon as I get my PITBOSS pellets from lowes... the 20th

If you're near a Walmart, they have PitBoss Pellets...at least the two Walmarts near me!!! I pre-sifted & mixed my pellets with a 1/4" screened bucket I made...wasn't too much sawdust and bits... I was fairly impressed!😁👍🏻
