I actually mentioned a few posts back if a previous version of the app might do the trick. Unfortunately, I believe Apple has made it impossible to install previous app versions without jailbreaking. It used to be possible when you could install apps through iTunes.
No problem, I've deleted my post. You may take credit.

I cannot connect to my grill. Anyone else having this issue? I am on hold with Treager right now. When I called, it says to put the grill in standby mode for 24 hours. But I have no idea what standby mode is. So...I am call #23. Talk about frustrating. I cannot even wait for a call back since I am calling from Germany. Ugh.

Really Treager? WTF?

I suggest reading through the 8 pages of this thread. You won't get anywhere with Traeger support.

Grill set for 24 hours, still no update, idk if I should try what @Applesauce posted or if I should just leave it.
I would maybe give it a shot and call them now. Surely they have given the call center some additional info and steps to perform. No matter what state you leave your grill, I imagine they'll still have you factory reset and pair it to get up onto your WiFI. And then they can force your grill to update from there. I still don't quite understand their serious lack of open communication. Looking around in all the usual social media hot spots (Instagram, Facebook, Twitter, etc), and in almost every one of their posts is someone commenting to fix the WiFire. You'd think that would be a good indicator that they royally screwed up, but then not admitting to it. Not a good way to handle things. Good luck, though. I do think that if I had actually thought of looking for the older version of the app (Android), I would have tried it myself. At this point, you have nothing to lose. I doubt you could screw it up any more than it already is.

They are closed, maybe I'll try them tomorrow at work, they have all my grill info so I don't think I'll have to be by the grill.

I received a long apology reply on facebook along with a link to a trouble shoot forum that they are going to launch soon.
So atleast they are finally acknowledging the fact that the problem is on their end.
But for now I'll give the old software a solution a try
I'll let you guys know if I have luck.

Grill set to old firmware and connected to wifi.
Phone set to current firmware.
Got to this point(attachment). Was very excited but after naming grill it kicked me back to the home screen.
Looks like they've disabled the app from updating the grill.
Deleted the App
downloaded the old version thanks to @Applesauce.
Grill connects to phone everything works, grill is even back to the name it was before the update.
But phone and grill are both on old firmware, dont know if this is good or bad for the future, but my phone can control my grill again.
Guess I'll just turn the ability for my phone to update the app off for now.

I factory reset to 01.01.06 and installed the previous version of the app: 1.3.7.2 (Android) and it works, thanks to @Applesauce. I'll upgrade to 2.0.0 and the new app once there is a fix. It would have been nice if Traeger support/IT offered a temporary workaround (use the previous version and app) until they fixed the issue.

I'm happy though grill works with phone, until traeger pushes the update from their end.
Sorry iphone users idk of a way to download the old firmware with apple.

Hey, in case it helps anybody who's stuck with an old grill firmware and is planning to cook this weekend, I have a website that might help. Note: I'm not connected with Traeger - this is just a hobby project that I made for myself to keep an eye on the grill, but thought it might help people who are having trouble with WiFire.

If you go to https://grill.rodeo.io/ and enter the email and password you use for the WiFire app (sorry I have to ask for this, but Traeger doesn't provide any other way of authenticating that I know of!), it'll start pulling the temperature data from your grill and graphing it (you'll probably want to watch status_probe for probe temp and status_grill for your grill's temperature). The graphs currently don't auto-update, so you'll need to refresh the page. If there's demand I can add email alerts or look into how to set the temperature from the web site.

iPhone user here.... :( good news, D2 controller is back on WiFi with IP address and listen on port 80. So that it is a good start and I can still use the smoker... I just have to keep an eye on it... I am in IT and we would not have let our customers hang like this. Frustrating!!! I have had a packet sniff on the network all night and not a single connection to the D2 controller overnight, other then ARP requests to it's self. so I know it is on my WiFi, plus I can ping that D2 controller from my MAC on the same network. Looks like I will need to call them to push the update from there end.

Currently running on the old firmware and able to add D2 controller to my WiFi and name smoker then is just cycles through the add traeger to wifire app.

For now I will just keep an eye on the meat temps and then I will be call support on Monday when I have time to fix there end of this.

This is awesome.

Does Traeger provide an API to get a grill data?

Is your source on GitHub? I'd love to take a peek.

I GOT MINE WORKING
So here’s what I did after 10 unsuccessful tries.
All done with the app open and not connected
Factory reset grill as described earlier in this thread
Grill showed earlier version 1.06 or something like that
(App still open)
After about 15 minutes grill updated to version 2.0 and was connected to my home network
Tried to connect to phone and it told me to forget network on grill
After that it all connected
I closed the app and reopened and it connected to grill
Will be putting up an overnight brisket about 5:00 pm to be ready about 1:00-2:00 tomorrow afternoon
To be safe I even recalibrated my probe

So you just let your phone sit with the app open for 15 minutes without being connected to the grill, and the grill updated on its own?
