Hi I am new to Pellet grills I just purchased a Traeger 780. I am moving from Pittsburgh to Port St Lucie, Florida. prior to the 780 I had a Backwood smoker that used wood. So this is a new adventure.

Hi! I'm new to the site. I smoke a Pro 22 upgraded with a Savannah Stoker controller and a 2 RPM Auger. It's just the wife and I so the 22 is more than enough to keep us eating well.

Just bought a Traeger 885 Ironwood and have used it with mixed results, so I joined this forum to find out how to get better results. I have been grilling on charcoal all of my years. Started out with a Hasty Bake and then for the last many yrs. I have had a sidecar smoker / grill
I have two issues that I could use help / suggestions with. Firstly, I don't get the char I am used to on direct grilling over charcoal. What techniques do you use to get that caramelized grill finish to fish or steaks? Second issue I am encountering when following the recipes in the app I always find the internal temp gets too high before the suggested cook time is expired.

I have a traeger 575 Pro w/wireless and absolutely love smoking just about anything. I went out and bought five different types of wood, trying different meats with different types of wood, and thoroughly enjoy getting the flavors I was looking for in a barbecue. I have always barbecued on a gas grill and learned so much about cooking meat. So this is an all new experience for me getting a lot of advice from a lot of people, on this form, wonderful recipes to try. I found that I want to smoke more than I ever wanted to grill so I’m pretty much hooked. My big first cook for the kids and family was five racks of St. Louis ribs. It’s was the first time ever doing ribs on the smoker and it came out flawless.

I think I’m very fortunate because I do not have any of the issues that has been on the forms, about not getting enough smoke, even at higher temperatures around 325, I still have a good amount of smoke coming out. So far my temperature probe is working perfectly and I am been coming out with wonderful meals. Also the wireless feature on my phone I did not realize how much I would end up using it. I’ve included my first attempt at St. Louis ribs and can’t wait to try my first brisket!

Not too impressed with Traeger tech so far........I'm on a lot of forums. Never seen one where I was in doubt if I was posting in the right place! Connecting to their wifi seems pretty much impossible at this point as well. It would help if the $1000 grill I just bought had the latest software.......... Can't download until I can hookup to wifi. Can't hookup to wifi until I can download. Almost bought a Grilla.........wonder if their tech is any better????

Funny how literally hundreds of thousands of people have no problem. 🤷🏼‍♂️ Just saying.

Greetings. New to pellets, old to smoking. I have a WSM, a Pit Barrel, and a Chargriller offset. I just purchased an ironwood 885. Love the convenience of gas with the flavor of wood. Also find that the ability to control my temps easily is a win. The fact that I can use it like a convection oven opens up a whole new dimension for me since I can get a full sized sheet pan in there! I cater professionally, so it’s a great arrow in my quiver. Looking forward to lots of cooks.

Greetings! I am from idaho and bought a used BBQ155(2014). I attempted to install the hopper on a fridge but the fire pot did not go into the fridge far enough. I have measured 9 inches from hopper to end of firepot. Is this standard or are the nee ones 12 inces? Thanks for any info

Welcome to the forum! You’ll find a ton of info and a great group of folks here.

Kinda confused on your question, I don’t have a clue about it but why are you mounting the hopper on a ?fridge like refrigerator?. Sorry not asking in a bad way just trying to figure out what the fridge has to do with it.

Yes well i was given a fridge and saw someone else turn one in to a smoker so that is what i was trying to do. The firepot needs to be farther from the side.

My firepot is 9 inches from side of hopper. The thickness of the fridge is 2 inch. I need a hopper assembly that is 12 inches so the firepot would be in the center
