FireBoard Pulse

I will have one in a week or so. I’ve been super busy with life stuff, including a move after 40+ years. When I get to the new place and get something set up do do some cooking, I’ll post my own thoughts on it.

AND I’ll have a big announcement that involves FireBoard.

Waiting for mine. Apparently getting it across the border had some issues. Fireboard is getting the paperwork together. Fireboard won't ship to Canada as of now.

Yeah, I was waiting for one of the Canadian dealers to carry them.
There's a real issue getting stuff from the US north of the border. Dealing with UPS is brutal in extra charges, Fed Ex is a bit better. USPS is by far the best method, but hardly anyone uses that.

Yeah. I emailed Smoker Broker and they told me about the paperwork issue. $215 for a pulse.
They used to be the only distributor for a while. I haven't had any issues ordering from them, they are in Saskatchewan.
I will be adding 1 or 2 of these to my collection of probes

Purolator lost my package, so was still waiting. Apparently Smoker Broker is the Canadian distributor for Fireboard. Smoker Broker gave me a refund and I ordered from Dickson BBQ. Smoker Broker is sold out of the Pulse.

They definitely get things first, for a while, you had to go through them for the FB products.
I was waiting for black Friday to see if there was any deals from Dicksons BBQ. Same price as Smoker Broker, but Dicksonbbq.com usually has had better freight rates or a deal for no freight on some items.
Looking forward to hearing about it when you get it

Well, my new toy arrived this morning.
Looking forward to trying it out. Won't be for a couple weeks.
Interested to see if it'll work inside a sealed SousVide bag submerged in water. It'll be great for making checking internal temps as an added check for time and temperature for pasturized food.

Wouldn't the water block the signal? Haven't tried mine yet, but doing a prime rib on Friday.
I watched a test online for reception on a group of wireless probes. One of the tests they dropped them in a hot deep fryer in a potato and they pretty much all passed that test. So the signal does get through liquids.
I will know on Christmas. I plan on using the SousVide on a prime rib and then finishing on the grill

The pulse has no problem in the sous vide or submerged in water. I used it to precook our prime rib and that portion worked flawlessly.
I noticed that the temperature is off. The temperature of the water was 2 degrees off, and the reading on the app differed from the FireBoard controller
