Pellets Pellet Dust Test ► Results Are In

I have been using the Traeger Pellet Storage Lid & Filter Kit to sift the dust out:

A better option is the Oklahoma Joe Pellet Bucket Kit:
Oklahoma Joe is also having 20% off sale on accessories.

I was going to hit the purchase button this and then I opted for a second InkBird instead. But this one will be next on my hit list. And on Amazon it’s listed for $30 with free shipping.

Noob question: Is it SOP to sift pellets?
sift or just don't pour from a bucket and sift the bottom couple inches of what's left before adding another bag.
I don't sift, but I pay attention to my buckets when I'm about to use from the bottom.

Buy the right pellet and you don't have to worry as much as Traeger pellets for dust.

Does dust not burn if it makes it down the auger tube?

/
It probably does, but I remember reading that the dust also gets blown around the inside of the Traeger during auger prime. Recommended that you wipe it down on the inside before setting the temp to avoid dust on your food.

A little dust seasoning never hurts. Seriously, I see a little dust accumulating inside my grill before I throw the food on the grates. But is it acutually blowing onto the food with the cover down? Or is it the ash from the pellets burning off?

Not yet. But next visit to Sam’s I’ll be picking up a bag to try. A good bargain for pellets. But let’s see how the pellet dust holds up.
yeah, got some bad reviews but the product seems pure:

I'll try my pellet dust test on a bag soon....

I started storing pellets in these:

I keep the containers in a dry garage. They are nice. they hold about 20 lbs, and do a good job of catching pellets when I'm changing wood.

I started sifting pellets using one of these but it is a bit slow as it isn't very large. better than nothing I suppose.
