Help! I'm about to throw this thing in trash compacter

I thinks the actual Traeger founders (family) are working with Dansons. They make a few recognizable brands
Country Smokers
A-MAZE-N Smokin' Products
Pit Boss
Louisiana Grills
Plus a couple other non=related businesses. I am sure their interests would be the grill side of things

The Traeger name is just a business venture for someone now. Which is why things went downhill after 2006 for some of the quality issues. Offshore saves money, but that usually comes at a cost

That explains a lot. Frankly I like the grill construction, I just wish they would OEM the controllers from FireBoard.

Yeah, that ship sailed with the Yoder Grills. Their controllers are Fireboard

The story is old and settlement was reached. Louisiana Grills used the Traeger name when they introduced their first pellet grill. I can see why that would be frowned upon by the corporation that had purchased the Traeger brand.

To all of you who have been posting about having WiFi app issues, I might be able to at least offer a suggestion. I just got mine tonight and yes, I was having issues, too, but as I thought through it, I realized that I have a router for my home network that also offers a level of protection against malicious hardware / software. It happened with another device last week, and I was able to fix it by figuring out the domain that the device connected to, then add it to a safe list in my router settings...magic.

I reached out to support (after hours) to see if they have the necessary domain(s) to whitelist their app’s connection to their web portal and the agent didn’t, but he committed to finding out and getting back to me. I will post this as soon as I hear back.

If your issue is the same, then you would have probably experienced something like this...you initiate the pairing process, it asks you for your WiFi password, then seems to connect, then fails once it cannot establish a connection. Basically, what’s happening is that the WiFire is using its own wifi network to connect to your device, see what network you’re connected to and establish its own connection. Then, once connected, it tries to reach out to its own web portal. If your router is blocking that connection, then it is unable to complete the process and suggests starting over.

I’ll repeat...if this is your experience, then the problem is NOT with your Traeger but with your own network. If your experience is not in line with this, then perhaps your issue is different — perhaps connectivity / signal.

Again, I’ll post the domain to whitelist it once I find out, but I thought this would perhaps help some of you. I grilled up some chicken and veggies tonight, and while I wasn’t able to use the app, the food turned out amazing, and I’m stoked to have this grill...my THIRD Traeger. And no...I don’t work for them.

Cannot connect to WIFI....never has worked from day 1, spoke to merchant where I purchased it and he suggested buy a gaming router as they are more powerful and may work, well it didn't, now super smoke button not working so I cannot get it to forget network,

This piece of s**t needs to go, knew I shouldn't have bought it !!

Hey Mark, keep your shirt on!!! I have had my 575 for about 3 months. The hardest part of getting the 575 up and running was the wifi connection. I got SO frustrated that like you, I was ready to take it back! My wifi at my house is good. I have all the best stuff and my connections are spot on. BUT, the Traeger just couldn't seem to find the signal. Remember, your wifi transmitter is going through your house wall, so that barrier can be a problem.....mine was. I went to Amazon and bought a range extender that simply plugged into an extension power strip. I placed the range extender in front of the glass window within 12 inches of my Traeger. That did it. It seemed a bit extreme to me, but you are correct in assuming that the signal from the Traeger leaves a lot to be desired! Hope this helps.

Have you worked with Traeger Tech Support? I have had problems with WiFire and I finally got a really good Tech support person who could verify what type and strength of signal my unit was getting. Turned out it was my weak signal so I got an extender and problem solved. The app for Android still really sucks.

That was my experience but IMHO, Traeger is very well aware of this issue as the narrative, from both techs I worked with was the same, i.e. they went to the same training or had the same excuse sheet in front of them because all I kept hearing was, "it's the signal strength, nothing wrong with your network, it's just the signal strength". I said to one of them that you are telling me it's not me and me all in the same statement instead of saying that your hardware is not up to par as say every other WiFi device I own, from PC to IoT that has no issue. Yes, at least for me, the fix was to drag the very heavy silverton into my kitchen as moving my router was not an option to get it to connect. We all spend a lot of money and the only thing we should have to do is put it together and make some tasty creations, not go out and spend even more money to make it work, yes, the grill may work but what I spent for the feature I wanted as part of a complete package was sold to me under say scrupulous conditions...something should be listed somewhere, this sounds more like a smoke and mirrors job. It is ridiculous. To add insult to injury, all four casters, the locking mechanisms didn't work. They are sending me four new ones. I had to do a video chat for that one...I performed my burn in last night and hope to at least have the grill working as it should soon. I would not say at this point not to purchase a Traeger but I would say, buyer beware if you care at all about WiFi...

i guess i'm lucky that i had a range extender in the garage. my 575 tried to take my 5g signal but i was able to select my 2.4 from the menu right at initial set up.

it was more difficult to get my brother printer to find the right network.

it sucks to see that others had issues.

I had problems connecting for the first time (right after assembly). Then I noticed that I hadn't plugged it in yet.:ROFLMAO::ROFLMAO::ROFLMAO:

i keep forgetting that there is an on/off button on the back.

why is that even there? not, why is it on the back, why do we even need it? is my thought.
