I cannot connect via Wifire. I have tried everything already. Now what?

First off, thanks for the help.

The extender is a 855RE.

Yes. It is putting out a separate SSID, not the original off the router.

So far so good then ... now we need to focus on the App Device and its default behavior with regards to connecting to preferred networks ...

Turn on Airplane Mode on the App Device, then manually turn Wi-Fi back on, then Forget any/all Home Wi-Fi Network SSIDs, then connect back to the SSID being generated via the Range Extender, and then start the Setup/Pairing process ... in "theory", this should allow you to successfully complete the setup/pairing process ...

The only "caveat" to consider is the Firmware version currently installed is from March 2019, and at various times, the App and the Traeger Cloud back-end have issues with dealing with "vintage" Firmware versions during the setup process (i.e. Firmware versions older than 02.00.01) ... sometimes it requires Traeger sending out a replacement controller with 02.00.01 or later pre-installed ...

Again. I thank you for all of your help.

This system did not work either. The firmware is not 02 version you are telling me about.

I'm seasoning it as we speak. I'm still excited to use this, just wish this handy feature would work....

Hi All,
When Traeger tells you to "forget network" this is not an "traeger app" setting or anywhere in the app. What they mean to say is go into your device (phone/tablet) wifi settings and find the networks that you have entered passwords for.... find the Traeger and click delete/remove/forget or whatever it says to NUKE that old connection profile that your phone has (not app). Hope this helps.

I cannot connect to my grill. Anyone else having this issue? I am on hold with Treager right now. When I called, it says to put the grill in standby mode for 24 hours. But I have no idea what standby mode is. So...I am call #23. Talk about frustrating. I cannot even wait for a call back since I am calling from Germany. Ugh.

Really Treager? WTF?
I found the Traeger app does not support 5 GHz WIFI. After I switched back to 2.5, most of my problems disappeared

The password listed in the Wireless settings, is the password to the grill's built in WiFi Access Point. The WiFi SSID and password are also encoded in the QR code, if you use that. These are only used for the initial setup for your phone to connect to it to configure it for your own WiFi network. Once the grill is configured to connect to your WiFi network, it switches from being an Access Point (AP), to a wireless client.
Mine never stays a client. It recognizes the home Wi-Fi and logs on but then shortly thereafter revert back to an access point

I had trouble at first. I was using a VPN on my phone. disconnecting the VPN allowed to Wi-Fi to work. After getting it to connect, I was then able to use the VPN again.

If I remember, I just turned on the grill. That may be what they mean by standby mode

YES, turn on but don't touch a button
Stand by is with the grill on but no lit screen on your panel... the grill is in SLEEP mode, it will still connect, update, etc.

Hey guys, I noticed this thread has been going on for a while but I ran into this issue and was able to resolve it. Here's what I did:

  • Go to the Network settings on the physical grill to obtain the SSID and password
  • Connect your phone directly to the grill's WiFi network to save the password, also turn off auto-reconnect so your phone doesn't try to connect automatically at a later time.
  • Disconnect from the grill's WiFi then reconnect to your home WiFi or whatever network you want to put the grill on.
  • Run the pairing again from the Treager app.

Hopefully this helps anyone with this issue!

While I had my Silverton 810 connected to my home network for several months, it was stuck in "sleep" mode when I went to use it the other day. So, I deleted the App, and removed the connection between my Traeger and my network. Now, I can't get it to reestablish a wifi connection. I've got 16 other devices at my home already connected, and getting them connected was relatively effortless. I just don't understand why connecting a BBQ is so complex, and often impossible. I think that the wifire product is pure GARBAGE.

After trying for many hours to connect my grill, (and spending way too much time with Traeger's "tech" support), I'm getting this message when trying to connect through the App: "Traeger wants to join Wi-Fi Network "Traeger-7305." Shouldn't it be showing my home network instead? Why is it doing this?

It sounds like your device is trying to connect directly to the grill. This can happen if the network has been saved on your device. The easiest way to resolve this is to disable "Auto-reconnect" for that network on your tablet/phone or whatever device you're running the app on. You can also tell the device to forget the network but this might hinder your ability to reconnect the grill to your home network.

Thanks for responding so quickly. Unfortunately, I've never saved that network to my iphone. With each failed attempt at pairing, it appears as an available network on my iphone. The option to "forget" it isn't available.

Ah, I use Android so I'm not super familiar with how Apple's network app works.

This link should show you how to get the Traeger grill's wifi off your phone's network list: https://support.apple.com/en-us/HT2...Network, then tap Forget to confirm. See More.

It looks like there is also an auto-join slider. Turning that off should prevent your phone from automatically connecting to the grill's Wifi. If this option is available, you can do that in lieu of forgetting the network. Remember, the phone will need to connect to the Traeger's network briefly in order to reconnect it to your home network. This should be done automatically through the app, but for me that didn't work. I had to manually connect the phone to the grill in order to get the pairing to work. I contacted Traeger and made them aware of this issue.
