I cannot connect via Wifire. I have tried everything already. Now what?

I had to reinstall the app remove the existing grill and start from scratch after.it had been working perfectly for 2 years. A new software update on the grill caused my issue.
Best of Luck

When your grill displays it is connected to wifi walk away. It is updating in the background even if you have the current version. Some times it takes several hours. Happens to me every time I move my grill to a different network.

I had DoT enabled in my asus router and that prevented my older ironwood from connecting properly. The wifi symbol on the display was green to indicate that it was connected but still it wouldn't show up in the app.
Hey I have an the Asus ROG Rapture GT-AC5300 gaming router. Could I go into that find my grill in the devices and give it its own static IP as I did with everything in my man cave? I'm having a lot of issues getting the WIFIRE to connect.. Today is the first time using the smoker.. Not a big issue, I know it'll be fixable.

Thanks for the tip! I dealing with the Wifi issue now lol.

Forgive if this has been covered elsewhere ...WiFire app cannot connect when VPN is "on". Just got a 575Pro. Overall pleased with it thus far but the WiFire connection took FOREVER to figure out. Turns out that the iphone app and grill don't like VPNs. App on my iphone simply would not connect (I use the Norton Symantec VPN on my cell phone). User documentation and troubleshooting includes no mention of this. Spent almost an hour with support on the phone. They were very patient and almost ran out of ideas when the technician said "....I wonder if you have a VPN configured.." Switched it off and now it works like a charm. I just switch it off during grilling sessions; not worried about security since I have multi-layered security on my phone and WiFi network.
Dear Traeger....geat grill, but please update your documentation!

I cannot connect to my grill. Anyone else having this issue? I am on hold with Treager right now. When I called, it says to put the grill in standby mode for 24 hours. But I have no idea what standby mode is. So...I am call #23. Talk about frustrating. I cannot even wait for a call back since I am calling from Germany. Ugh.

Really Treager? WTF?
Same here. I’ve read every blog. Left it plugged in. Turned on. Plugged in turned off. Both for a week at a time. Hoping for a miraculous software update as some blog posts state. I’ve searched for answers. Stood on one foot while holding my mouth just right. None of the tips I’ve read worked. Maybe it’s my WiFi mesh system. Or maybe I’m too old lol. I just gave up on it. Any smart dudes around League City, TX please come help. Lol

VPN issue like the problem I post at msg #141 ? Switching off VPN worked for me. Good luck.

The best way I found was for me to turn off data on my Verizon Samsung S21 phone, then connect to home WIFI only thru the 2.4ghz. I had problems when the app would switch the WIFI during installation and the phone data would try to connect instead of my WIFI. I've had good success with the new app. (knock on wood)

Perhaps a class action will resonate with Traeger to provide what they sell, WiFire connectivity for premium prices. Any attorneys here?

Same here VPN blocked the Traeger connection for some reason, my VPN software has split tunneling so I can just nominate which traffic runs through the VPN. Everything else behaves like there is no VPN, including the Traeger WIFI connection.

I am not sure if this is the correct way to do this anymore, but about a decade ago I was doing a lot of my work at home and was a little paranoid about security. I ended up with a two router set up with an inner LAN and an outer LAN. All my work stuff was in the inner LAN with high protection and the rest was in the outer LAN with less protection.

If I had to run VPN today, this is what I will do again. All IOT stuff (such as the Traeger) will go on the outer LAN, with the VPN being the inner LAN. As it is, I am running a dedicated 2.4 GHz WiFi network using an old router as an access point for all my IOT stuff and it works great.

Well, I will join the people who can't get this setup. I have tried everything. I have good signal strength at the grill but my router is about 40 feet away with 4 walls in the line of fire. I down loaded the app which is 30 mb in about 3 seconds standing right next to my grill. Is the reception of this grill (575) not that great? I am thinking about getting a wifi extender and try that. Is any body connected farther then 30 feet.

My access point is over 100 feet away!

There is an easy solution for this:
1. Get an old router (even something 10 years old is fine)
2. Set it up as a wireless access point (router function disabled)
3. Set up a 2.4 GHz ONLY network with a different name than your regular WiFi network.
4. Place it somewhere where it will have a wired connection to your main router. It does NOT have to be close to the Traeger. A 2.4 GHz network is slow but it has a very wide range compared to 5 GHz and will go through walls much better.
5. Connect your Traeger and other IOT devices to this dedicated 2.4 GHz network.

My routers 2.4 and 5 are labeled differently so it is no trouble connecting to the 2.4. the Amazon fire stick is the same way. It has to be connected to the 2.4 also. I even set up a guest access on my router that is only 2.4 and no luck. I am not sure how what you are doing is any different then just connecting to my router like the 12 other devices connected to it. I think I have an old router and I might give this a try though and see what happens. Pretty crazy, I have not had any trouble connecting to this router until this grill.
