Just signed up for an Amazon account, ordered the lavalock gasket. It should do both grills. My Pro 780 and Bronson 20.Im going to clean the seal area with Traegers cleaner then alcohol wipes.

Yes - I cleaned it with simple green. Much cheaper than the traeger cleaner.
When the Traeger spray is gone, im gonna try simple green for bbq grills.

I used my I. Wood 885 3-4 times before adding a seal. It was losing some smoke around the door as they all will w/out a seal, I used the Lavalock seal. It cured the smoke loss completely, it loses no smoke what-so-ever now.
I pulled the lid off for easier access to clean using a 'little' lacquer thinner and then alcohol before putting on the seal.
I shimmed under the hinge plates to raise the rear of the lid to the same amount as the seal so it doesn't bind at the rear edge.
I think putting the seal on there was worth the time.

Just ordered some fireblack gasket. Did you guys clean your lid with anything to help the adhesion process?
Clean the edges as others here have stated. Pull the lid off to make installation easier. If your weather temperatures are on the cool side (less than ~40 degrees), I'd recommend bringing the lid inside and let it warm up so the adhesive sticks properly.

10/4 Thanks!

Clean it good with BBQ cleaner then Alcohol to remove any left oil behind...
I put 2 rows at the TOP of the smoker (bottom of the lid when open), this really helped and I get ZERO leaking of any smoke... do your HOPPER lid with the same stuff if you have any left over....

I didn't need to do that... if you look close you can see the indent of my lid into the top piece of seal...
it's tighter than socks on a Rooster!!!!! (wait, what?)

I had previously put a seal on an Ok. Joe smoker I have because it binded pretty good afterwards and wouldn't come close to sealing at the lower edge and sides. I used a little air grinder and cut the welded hinges loose and re-welded them, shimmed up a little to eliminate the bind. That lid fit like socks on a chicken from the start anyway. It fits and aligns pretty good now.
So I didn't even check for a bind on the Traeger, I just cut some shims when putting the lid back on figuring it'd bind w/out em, maybe not!
As you can see on yours, that ridge along the rear, upper edge seats into the seal when put on in the right place. That should pretty much eliminate the need for another one behind it. So far I've not needed a second one.

Thanks... D. Walker

TRUE, but I did DOUBLE cuz I didn't know where it was gonna hit that ridge and didn't measure, got lazy.
But Traeger Hinges are adjustable even without shims... just loosen the screws and move the lid higher up if you have any slop.

That's how I did mine, loosened the screws, closed the lid, tightened them back up, worked perfect

Got the Lavalock put on the Bronson 20 and the Pro 780, didn't have to loosen any screws on either. I can't believe the difference it made. No more smoke coming from around the lids! And they close like a fridge door! Definitely worth the money and time!

I put some on my Elite 34 and it did an amazing job keeping the smoke in on the first cook after the install.

Hi everyone, just added the lavalock to my pro 575 and now there is a big gap on the right hand side... here is a photo, will take a better one tomorrow.

Question is, how can I adjust the hinges on it?
Cheers,

Cheers,

Loosens the screws on the top of the barrel. Move those hinges/plates to make it flush and tighten them up again.
