Agree with the sentiment, but unfortunately the WiFIRE Controller board used on the other models (non-Timberline) is missing the necessary circuitry/connections to provide this capability ... assuming that Traeger is doing the appropriate analytics when it comes to their support calls and customer challenges around signal strength relative to connectivity, you would hope that the next generation (D3 ?) WiFIRE Controller-based Grill Lines/Models either provide an external antenna out-of-box, or as an optional accessory ...

Well after many calls (6 or 8) including the last one when I requested to speak to the manager on duty, I was sent a new controller...received in 5 days!

The installation was quick, plugged in and turned on the grill to find that it too had an outdated firmware rev. and I was not able to connect with the same failure. Called customer service again, and was told to leave the grill turned on for 24 hours. Just checked 24 hours later and the firmware rev was the same as the day before. However, today I was able to connect to the grill and the firmware update was downloaded. Seems that I am now back in action.

So, I'm getting my new 575 soon... Probably won't be updated since I'm getting it thru Home depot....
So I turn it on and LEAVE IT ON for 24 hrs before anything else happens?

I bet it updates as soon as you get it connected to wifi or soon after. It may not show up in your App right away, but get it connected to the internet and let it sit for a bit to update.

Just keep your fingers crossed that it has something on it other than 02.00.00. If it has that, you’re probably going to need to ask Traeger for a new controller.

Also when I set temp to say 350 it hovers at 325. Now it’s set for 500 and it won’t go above 375. Had this Pro 780 since September 2019 and thisnisnthendirst time j can say that I’m having temp problems - not to mention that grill is connected to my WiFi but the app won’t connect and keeps saying “grill offline.” My Davey Crocket portable Green Mountain is sadly more reliable.

Yup. Me too. I have the Pro 780 and every time there is an app update I’m terrified to download it. I get connection issues big time. I’m running an app two updates behind because it finally works. Just finished a 21hr brisket! In the cooler now.

I had no option. It automatically installed the upgrade.
One full year no issues.
