Firmware update 2.01.00 is coming

Looks like I'm in the same boat as the rest of you. I've powered my grill off and on over the last 7-10 days and still no firmware update. I can't find anyway to force an update either so I guess I'll just have to be patient. On the bright side, the new app is pretty solid!

New app update last week and grill is stuck in Offline mode. Each time there’s an updated my grill won’t connect. Tried deleting, reinstalling app and restarting IPhone - no luck. Grill menu says it’s connected to my home WiFi but app won’t connect. I wish they’d stop issuing updates - so frustrating.

Also when I set temp to say 350 it hovers at 325. Now it’s set for 500 and it won’t go above 375. Had this Pro 780 since September 2019 and thisnisnthendirst time j can say that I’m having temp problems - not to mention that grill is connected to my WiFi but the app won’t connect and keeps saying “grill offline.” My Davey Crocket portable Green Mountain is sadly more reliable.

Try screwing the chimney cap down lower and the temps will rise fast. I left my grill on since the last time I used it over a week ago. Yesterday I checked the firmware and it's the 2.01 version.

Did they tell you to leave the grill on to get it?

My feedback from Traeger Support was that the grill "checked in" to the Traeger Cloud backend at Power On, and that is when the updates would be pushed down ... supposedly they are considering adding a Pull capability via the App in the future - this will be a big help, and most/all IOT-based devices get updates through the owner saying "proceed" via the App so that it is a controlled / known timeframe to install ...

One recommendation. If your Traeger is not in "standby mode" and you turn it on, take a few seconds to see if it tries to update firmware. Twice this year when new firmware was being pushed out, in my haste to get dinner on the table, I hurriedly set the temp and hit the ignite button, not knowing that the firmware had initiated an upgrade. In both situations the grill disconnected from my network and communication between my grill and the Traeger WiFire app terminated and could not be reestablished without getting in touch with support. The second time it led to the replacement of my D2 controller.

New app update today V 2.0.3b12....still no ability to pull an update, but maybe they are heading in the right direction.
