Traeger investment: stock is down over 50%

It sounds like Traeger stock has experienced a significant decline in value over the past year, and the recent drop in the past four months is concerning. It's always important to carefully monitor investments and take appropriate action when needed. If you're feeling unsure about your investments, it may be a good idea to seek advice from a qualified financial advisor. They can help provide guidance and develop a strategy tailored to your specific financial goals. Remember, investments can be volatile, and it's important to make informed decisions.

I don't think Traeger understands who their average customer is anymore. They're pushing $4,000 grills that have more problems than their $600 grills did. Customer support also used to be a LOT better before they went public. Stores that used to stock and sell their grills (Home Depot, Cabelas, Bass Pro, Academy, etc.) barely have any Traeger grills on the floor. The aisles are now filled with other brands instead.

Traeger introduced their new Flatrock griddle in February. However, only a couple of stores in the Chicago metro area have them in stock. It is now mid-April and grilling season is underway in many parts of the country. It was 82 here in Chicago land last week (but it snowed Sunday), so I have already done several outdoor cooks this spring.

I was quite interested in purchasing a Flatrock, even at the price of $900, but I was not about to spend that much without inspecting the griddle personally. Thus, when Menards had the Chargriller Flat Iron Deluxe griddle on sale for half of the Traeger price, I decided not to wait for Traeger. The Flat Iron does not have all the bells and whistles of the Flatrock, but it has some other features that Traeger does not provide or provides at extra cost. Thus, I am pleased with my purchase. Traeger lost a sale due to supply chain issues. If others did the same thing, it won't bode well for Traeger's stock price.

I had a PRO575 that I sold (to my brother) when I got onto the gravity feed train with chargriller 980. The 980 is ok, but I wish I still had the Traeger. I've been looking at the new Ironwoods, but the price is holding me back. Instead I'm looking at the ZGrills 11002B at Sams for $700. Double walled, front shelf, hefty build, includes the cover. I really liked my PRO575 and regret selling it, but not sure at this point that my next pellet grill will be a Traeger.

I agree that Traeger seems to be pricing themselves out of the big box store market. So far, I'm really impressed with the new Ironwood and Timberline series but they are no doubt expensive. I think Weber is having a hard time with their recent price increases on the SmokeFire.

The pellet grill market is getting really crowded. I don't know how some of these companies are going to make it.

I have some buddies with Pit Boss pellet grills and they have been really happy. They seem to be the best bang for the buck going.

I went to my local Ace Hardware to see if they knew when the Flatrock griddles might be in stock. The Flatrocks were delayed, but they had one of the new Weber griddles in stock. I was not at all impressed with the overall build quality of the griddle. The Weber cost $450, but it looked more like a $250 griddle. The good thing about it was the shelves and front faceplate were stainless, but that was the only thing that impressed me. I ended up with the CharGriller Flat Iron Deluxe and have been well pleased with the price, features and build quality.
