Traeger investment: stock is down over 50%

I feel like in these times of high gas and food prices people are being more prudent in their discretionary spending. These are not cheep grills.

If only. The new grill is $3,800 retail for a souped up Timberline with an induction side burner. How many people are going to drop that kind of coin when a propane gasser is $300?
You are asking the wrong guy....I have an Ironwood and bought a Yoder this year as well lol.
I am not the norm, but totally get your point. Pricing went up recently in Canada on the Traeger's by 15%, Timberline 1300 is $3400.00, an IW650 is $1800, these two aren't entry level by any means

I just noticed a neighbor of mine purchase a Yoder. It looks like a tank! How do you like it?

I am happy with it. I wasn't unhappy with my Traeger, I was looking for something bigger. It really is a nice grill.
The Yoder is very well made. I love the open flame sear feature, I will be using that a lot for sure. Very quick in getting up to temp to sear when you slide the damper over. The ability to get to the firebox through the door also makes it easy to dump the firepot between cooks without having to remove everything.
Traeger makes a nice grill, but their new price point will put them up with some stiff competition

Anyone seen the new Weber pellet smoker? What gets me is every company set our jobs to China to rake in more profits price of goods never went down!

Weber has been in the BBQ business for years and definitely know how to do things right. They had some hiccups out of the gate with their Smokefire and got some bad press because of it. But they seem to be working to improve things and based on their history, they'll be the frontrunner. They make a good product and have a good reputation. Based on some online posts I've seen they are good at fixing issues and working with customers on making them happy. They are gaining a bigger following every day. They produce good smoke and can seer as well.
Check out this forum for some good information. It may look familiar, another one courtesy of @primeone

I have two Weber grills (one for camping, and a genesis). They make great grills. I was pretty excited when the SmokeFire first came out but it had it's fair share of issues. I think most of the problems have been sorted out now with the latest revisions of the grill. I've been real happy with my Ironwood, so never made the switch to try one out.

Evidently the new Traeger Timberline didn't get investors excited. They need to go back to the kitchen!

Wonder how this market is doing overall now, especially for the >$3K grills??

I have no evidence to back this up but I have to think Traeger is pretty much 0-2 now in the last two launches. I just don’t see their Traeger Provisions boxes flying out the door, or long lines to buy a $4K grill.

Of course that’s just my opinion.

Maybe we'll see some good summer deals on the new Timberline series to boost sales!

Wonder how others in the same space are doing??
I work in the industry and the whole industry is down this year, except for maybe Blackstone. Weber's earnings next week will be worse than what Traeger just showed (relative to expectations), I guarantee. 2 years of pull-forward buying plus inflation and no stimulus checks this year means less people buying grills/smokers. The issue with Traeger vs the others is that Traeger spends 10x in marketing what everybody else does. That'll be hard to continue if the money dries up, but the products need that to continue to sell at the current level. It's an important next 12 months for Traeger.

Stocks are the one thing most people are afraid to buy when they are on sale.

Traeger stock is now down 90% and counting in one year. Ninety Percent. In the past four months it plunged an addition 40% since this thread was started.
