Interesting, I would have thought the red jelly beans would be faster

One thing the reviewer didn't show was the improved white backlight, that is a plus.

I will also add, for ANY battery operated devices that you own and care about, that use AA or AAA batteries. ONLY USE Eveready Lithium batteries, they last longest but more importantly, NEVER leak. Tools like this are too nice to ever chance a leaky battery. I've learned this the hard way over decades. With lithiums you can safely use them until dead and never worry about damage. I have them in everything in the house with the exception of smoke detectors, because I change Batts out every daylight savings.

you guys that are so quick to cast the trusty Mk4 to the side are making me wonder if it's not as good as advertised

Not tossed to the side, just have like having two probes in the house now.

The current clearance price on the MK4 is stellar, it's still one of the best probes out there, and at 40 % less it's a steal.

Did any of you who purchased a Thermapen ONE also get the Silicone Boot with the Magnetic Back?

No, but I got the one with the Chevy 2500 Silverado HD holder.

Seriously, I have two classic Thermapens that are 20 years old and working great as well as a MK4. All are great and fast.
