Offset smoker repair and new firebox. Then modify to reverse flow. ( Successful)

Well it was to freakin windy today so i didnt get to mess with it. Im going to tip the left transfer plate back to a good tilt and drill 2 to 3 2" holes in it. Then im going to get chunk charcoal and add some wood in the mix. I'm gonna try easy mods first then get more technical if i have to. I am also open to suggestions.

Ok, im getting plans made now so this spring i can get to work on the offset. Im looking for a very high temp gasket that will withstand direct heat and flame for the firebox. Any suggestions would be great.

OH boy, well there is a site that all the BIG RIG makers go to for this kinda of stuff... lemme see if I can remember where and what...

That would be awesome!

Im seriously considering making my own fire box. According to Feldons bbq pit calculator, my firebox is to small.

Fiberglass gaskets or tape
Have a look at this site
It's one of the vendors my employer uses for high temp gaskets and seals.
A local fireplace or woodstove store may carry something ad well

This might also be a good example of your fire pit size and maybe even shape in a reverse flow

Thanks ill check them out. I probably dont need more than 5 ft of gasket material.

This is inline of what im thinking.

Is 1000f max temp enough or should i look for 2000f max temp gasket?

hmmmm kinda a good Q but I'd say the high side would be the safe side... then again, I've seen a lot of guys use whats easy to get on their fireboxes and they never said it was a mistake.
