I am in awe of your work there. I wish I had some metal skills. Very nice alteration
Saw a video by the mad scientist BBQ and he bought the cheapest offset smoker he could at Home Depot and cooked a brisket on it. He didn't expect the results he got. Said it was amazing.

Look forward to seeing you smoking on that one you just modified
Nice work 👏👏👍

It will be runnin in the morning, plans are to do a brisket and butt over night in the T , then finish in the offset. Then do a spatchcock turkey in the T in the morning and finish all by mid afternoon tomorrow. And thanks, I've been doing auto body work since '84.

YES just don't put any meat in that area, but that's the idea... U R DA MAN!!!!!

Now you need to LEARN it, obviously temp control is 2 way, inlet and outlet, and if the plates get too hot then place a water bowl/pan under your meat!!

WOW I'm deff impressed. That rig is THE :poop: !!!!

Gawd I wish I had known you years ago... 5 1/2 hour drive and we coulda built beautiful rigs together!!!

Thanks man! And thanks for the input! Gonna put the 2 ambients from the Fireboard in it tomorrow and a couple meat probes to see how it runs. I'll put my thermoworks probes to monitor the T with the spatchcock turkey in it.

The next step, only if this one is too directly hot, is to drill a couple holes in that end piece... the idea is to get the heat to have to swirl around in the upper chamber. But for now try it like it is, learn the hot spots and enjoy that Dream Machine!!!

Dude i got hole saws! How big a hole ?

Better yet, if you can make that plate lay flat half way between your grate and the other plates... That would cause the swirl without holes.
Angled like that might push too much heat towards your meat

But my thought was mark out 4 evenly spaced holes and drill out the center 2... 2-3" size

yeah... and the height like I said only half way up to your grates

well use it anyway you can for today... you got some cooking to do!!!

Well.....not what i had hoped.....couldn't get temp over 210f. Soooo I'll have to do a firebox mod to get the charcoal basket lower. And possibly put a chimney extension down to grate level. And maybe weld the drawer end of the firebox shut and install a door with bigger flew.
