Insulating Timberline850, a Covid Project.

I have not seen a reduction on the amount of Smoke , the insulations just keeps the temp more stable so the Grill doesn't need the volume of pellets to maintain temp.

Bottom and sides are insulated. Soon to complete the back and lid. Any tips on how to shape the baffle for evening the grill heat, without messing up the air flow? (Which is the whole reason I wanted to do this in the first place.) Thanks in advance.

This is what mine looks like, it clips onto the stock firepot cover and shields the left side. It stops about an inch short of the left wall, allowing heat to circulate up. I folded the rear left side a bit, to deflect a portion of the heat away from the left exhaust port.

The beauty is that it's easy to hand form and trim this 26ga stainless to get a good result.

Big thanks for all the hard work, RemE. I have all the stuff on the way to complete the insulation and shielding mods. Just have to source some stainless sheet metal and fight the urge to use my brand new 1300.

I do have a couple questions for you regarding the exhaust ports but I need to go take it apart and get pictures of the areas in question. Again, thanks.

@RemE I’m in the process of putting the Lynn’s insulation into my 2021 T-850, I noticed you said you wrapped the lower exposed insulation with foil, is this stainless foil or heavy duty aluminum foil?

Most of the insulation is covered by the lower baffle. But what I did was to fit a pieces of 20 gauge SS on the left and then 2 pieces on the left and right rear and then another piece on the front right. Then the rope for around the left and right side of the grill.

This might help…
These are photos of the various pieces of SS and the rope on the sides these 2 are the left side you can see that the SS is around the grease shoot…

this is the right side…

note that the SS slides under the Treager supplied component…
