I had some scrap deck boards and leftover stain/poly from another projects so I built myself a custom 575 bottom shelf. It was a fun/easy side weekend project.

That looks great! Did you use any fasteners to secure it to the grill?

There is no need for fasteners. The shelf sits on top of the lips on the side panels. If you cut the wood correctly it can not slip in any direction. It also can not come up because the sides are sloped. Super eezy peezy install

Can you tell me the demensions you used? Yours would be better than mine, I don’t want slippage.

You are better off measuring it yourself, your legs might be further apart than his... besides one side panel needs to come off to install it anyway.

I plan on doing the Sam thing when I put mine together, it will be deliver 1 Feb. I plan on using Cedar.

Hey Kevin,

what were the dimensions of your boards? I love the look of that shelf! I was also thinking of putting a lip on the back to prevent stuff from falling off the back!

Thanks in advance!

One of your side panels has to come off anyway, because the wood fits only at the bottom of the slant.... so you are better off measuring it yourself, BUT, mine is 26 3/4 x 15 (or if you notch you can go further to the front and back)

I am all in! This is awesome. Do you have a photo of underneath? Did you put a support down the middle? Thanks!

Kevin hasn't been here since Sept last year, so he won't see your Q, but he put 1x cleats down the middle and close to the sides, you can see the screw holes.
