Beef Jerky

Okay so I'm not completely without some perks of my own at my local (Trader Joe's owned) store...
I get this perfectly thin sliced Angus Beef Sirloin Tip Steak, the whole thing lays out 1/4" thick and makes a nice quick batch of 1.5lb jerky

Added Soy Sauce, and a little steak sauce, and then a dry marinate mix to which you add a little water

A cure comes in the kit but I don't use it, didn't on my Deer Jerky either....

it's in the frig and I'll try this, if I like it I'll buy 2 of these next time and make more

Are you talking about Aldis? I have one near me I've never been there. I guess I need to check them out. Also found out there is a Trader Joe's 40 miles from me also. Guess I need to check them out also!! 😁

The jerky looks like it will be really good.

I can't wait to try my rack out on some.

YES Aldis... if you haven't been then you are missing out
Best Rib Eye Steaks in the world
I got my 4.5 lb Chuckie there... super buys on Chick parts

Well I got a boneless arm roast, leanest one I could find. Got it all trimmed up, put in @GrillMeister KETO marinade. I figure it's gonna have about 18 hrs in the marinade.
Then tommorrow goin on the Traeger!

Next whip up a marinade. There are loads of marinades out there, but I do not want any sugar in mine as I want Keto Friendly beef jerky. Here's mine.

5 lbs meat

1.5 cups soy sauce
3/4 cup Worcestershire sauce
1 Tbs. garlic powder
1 Tbs. onion powder
1 tsp. ground chipotle
1 tsp. black pepper
Optional: (I added a few sliced whole cloves of garlic)
GM, I went to the garage to get a soda out of the fridge, your KETO marinade smells AMAZING!

BR6 Ultimate all loaded up, smoke tube goin with apple pellets , got hickory in the hopper.
The smells are amazing!

The BR6 fits BEAUTIFULLY in the Pro 780!

So you guys will keep me honest and not open the lid to much! 🤪

Beef jerky came out very tasty. I WILL be doing this again! 6.5 trimmed beef arm roast yielded 2.5lbs jerky.

Now what I learned:

1: Don't buy a cheaper less lean cut of beef.
2: Don't rush when doing a big batch, take time to marinade and slice more
consistently.
3: If you slice yourself, have a VERY sharp knife and put meat in freezer for a while prior to slicing so meat can firm up.
4. Don't cut really thin slices, it gets brittle with no "pull" when you bite.
5: Don't cut slices to thick. It will take forever to finish.

Some of these are my mistakes, some are observations.

All in all was a treat to do and finished product everyone liked!

Exact same stuff I learned last year when doing all my Deer Jerky... But what I learned MOST OF ALL???? BUY A SLICER!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! (someday)

You gotta get to Aldis and buy that "thin sliced Sirloin"... dude, all I did was cut the fat out and "Rock & Roll"

(but I still want a F***ing Slicer!!! Maybe if I stop buying everything you guys post I can afford one!!!!)
