Add a "Smokin-It" Cold Smoke Generator to Timberline 850

Brought it up because that is what is in the smoke daddy..... stainless steel spring. It should be the same basic set up as the Bella (same pump and heat) unless I’m missing something.

No, the Smoke Daddys spring is used as an air duct, kind of goofy to me. It just drops into the pellet chamber, it's being used as a tube.

Ok, last question for today. My Bella sits very close to my hopper, close enough that I don’t think I can get a elbow on and have it fit. What should I do with the hole (leave it open, plug it, etc)?

if you are gonna run air into all the other holes then you need to plug that one...

BTW RemE, I got my bucket of sawdust finally... delivery was slow...

I just wanted to give a shout out to Remy, Slimpicker, and everyone else who shared their experience doing this mod. I recently bought my first Traeger (Pro 780) and have been mulling back and forth about adding a cold smoke generator for actual long hot cooks, as I miss that stick burner smoke. I hadn't even thought of the difficulties around the positive pressure that the stock Traeger fan produces, and its effect on smoke generators like these. Thanks so much for sharing this!

Will have to continue to explore options - not sure if I have the expertise to do all of these mods everyone is trying.

So did it turn out that the smoke generator works with the Traeger running I’m interested in one if it does well with Traeger running like for ribs or something

Everything suggests the Smoke Daddy Magnum PIG is a better cold smoke option, especially if you plan to run it during hot cooks. No modifications needed (aside from mounting it on your Traeger) - it just works straight out of the box.

The Bella is great for cold smoke, the small air pump draws room air thru its side vents. With the Traeger running you need to modify the Bella to prevent back flow.

If the smoke daddy has external vents and a small pump, I'd be surprised if it didn't see some of the same issues...

That said, if you don't plan to cold smoke, just use a smoke tube, far less work, and good smoke boost.

The Smoke Daddy (all sizes) are 100% compatible with Traegers running hot cooks with zero modifications - plenty of airflow.

My son is doing his 1300 today and mine next weekend. Figured I’d let him practice on his then do mine. He used high heat felt behind box so it wouldn’t burn off paint
