Wifire won’t connect

You already have a thread with this same question. But it seems that you didn’t answer anyone in that thread that was trying to help.

Can’t get the wifire to work with my IOS IPhone 8. How do you pair with my 575 pro?
I had a bit of trouble getting connected as well but was able to get it working. Just so we are clear, you are not pairing your phone with your pit, you are connecting your pit with the same home Wi-Fi network your phone is connected to and then you will communicate over the Wi-Fi network through your router. For me the issue was signal strength. I moved my grill a few feet and it linked up fine. Once it was connected to Wi-Fi it told me I had a week signal but it has been very reliable so far. If your phone can see your Wi-Fi network from where your grill is located your grill should be able to connect too. I have no expertise on this but, if you continue to have trouble getting your grill connected to Wi-Fi, you might try moving the grill closer to the Wi-Fi router to connect it and then move it back to it's long term location and see if it can maintain the connection. The other thing I remember from the literature is the grill should be facing in the direction of your Wi-Fi router for the best connection. That said, mine faces away from the router and has been working just fine after the hiccup with getting it connected.

Again, I'm not an expert but, if you want to share more specific details, I might be able to give you some additional ideas.

No expert here either but......I think some older routers have limits on how many devices can connect to it and your grill is another device.

Not necessarily! Most Traeger grills (with the exception of the Timberline models) have an in internal WiFi antenna, surrounded by the metal cabinet, and will only transmit reliably when the controller (with the plastic faceplate) is facing the router.

Sorry for not answering sooner. The only reply I got was about pairing. I know that pairing is a function for Bluetooth, and this isn’t how wifire works. That being said, thanks for the tips. I may just have to have another adult beverage and just keep an eye on the cook.

I must be lucky. My controller doesn’t face my house and mine paired easily.

Pairing the two allows you to control the grill from anywhere in the world, not just within Bluetooth range. That may not be your problem, but if you grill connects to your wifi and you just don’t get any of the data on your phone it would seem to me that connection is broken somewhere.

im not techie at all though so maybe not. Just throwing out ideas.

Don't give up... It took me about 20 minutes to connect my 575 and I was about ten feet from my nearest access point.

Have you contacted Traeger?

This response without any other information is useless. Please elaborate. For the record I think you are wrong.
This has been covered several times on this forum. Instead of flaming someone, maybe a search is in order.

When you start the process of connecting your grill to a Traeger server, your phone will directly connect to the grill ( not through your network), so that your network info can be passed back and forth.

Once a connection has been established between the grill and Traeger, the connection to your phone is dropped and the phone/device will reconnect to your network. You can actually see this happening if you look at the WiFi settings on your phone during the initial connection. And if you are having trouble establishing a connection, you can actually go to WiFi settings on your phone and connect directly to the Traeger, but only during this initial connection period.
After the network info has been passed to the Traeger, it will not show up in in the WiFi settings on your device, and if your phone/device and the Traeger are on same 2.4G network the two will finish the setup by communicating through a Traeger server, and they become paired/linked (ior whatever you choose to call it)

If you still think I’m wrong, Close the app on your phone, go to settings/network on the grill, and forget network settings.
The grill will not reconnect to your network on it’s own, it has to communicate to the app to know what to connect to, and since it can’t connect to the network on its own, it connects directly to your device to get that info.

James, I didn't mean to flame you. In fact I thought my response was no more inflammatory than your response to the previous post. That said, clearly you were offended and I apologize for that.

I appreciate your very thorough explanation and I will assume you are correct.
