Wifire won’t connect

I don't recall the details but when I got my 780 going last year I thought there were limits on the router you have. For example my router has 2 bands...One is 5 Ghz and the other is different (like 2. something). I'm not a techy so I don't recall. I just know the Traeger could not connect to one channel but has worked fine with the other. I was actually surprised last weekend when I did a brisket overnight. Due to rain chances I had to drag it out to my pole barn which has a 6 foot overhang. It is about 80 feet away from my house where the Traeger normally sits. I just assumed I would not be able to connect but it worked just fine. I am not sure how well the signal strength meter works but it showed the same strength at the barn as it does in my garage where it is within 15 feet of the router.

I ran into issues with the initial setup of my Traeger on the WiFi. My issue was the band the grill used to connect to the router. When my phone was connected to the main network (which is 5Ghz) during setup the grill would not connect and setup. When my phone was connected to my guest network during setup it worked.

The issue is that the network connection with the Traeger grills can only connect to 2.4Ghz. My main network is “smart” and selects the best band (2.4 or 5 GHz) for each device connecting to it, not taking into account whether the device can actually communicate over the band or not.

If you have a mesh network in your home then you may have the same issue I did.
