Randall's had sale on beef and there was this chunk of beef labeled Beef Roast for $5.99/lb. I grabbed this one for $33 for the 5.5 lbs.
First time cooking something like this.

Roasted on the Ironwood for about 3 hours at 275 till it hit 125 internal according to the Fireboard.

Never carved one of these before. It had a bone on the bottom, so I sliced it down and removed the bone. Looks almost like prime rib. Man it was good!

1 can creamed corn, 1 can regular corn drained ,a half to 1 cup milk, 1 tube off cracker (i use ritz)2 eggs. Mix and bake.
What is scalloped corn?

Do I like deer jerky more than beef?

Oh I love beef jerky from certain places, I'm kinda picky about that.
Never tried smoking beef yet, had a freezer full of deer since I got my Traeger so deer it is for now, plus we love it while hunting and I can hunt with gun till Jan 3...

Deer loin is a very soft meat when cooked... almost like a processed meat. The Jerky is easy to eat and very tasty. Not much "yanking"
Now jerky made from deer roast is a little closer to beef but still a softer meat.

I'll do beef someday, so far this year has not been my luck hunting so beef will be in my future unless I down one this week.

Well i was gonna smoke this afternoon, but this is happening
