The grate in the pellet hopper?

I bought my Pro 34 in 2019 and mine did not come with one.

What exactly is the grate in the pellet hopper for? I don't understand what it is there, and it makes it very difficult to stir the pellets in the hopper or removing the pellets when I want to switch pellets. Anybody just removed it? Any reason not to, and if so what was Treager's purpose of the grate?
Keeps hands, etc out of auger. I use a wooden spoon to stir. There is a clean out trap door

If you lose a finger you are retarded and have no business grilling

Agreed, that's why when you lift the hopper lid on both my Traegers, you see this warning sign. 🤣

Apparently, they want to play in the EU market. And to do so they need to have this on their product label.
