System Update Fix

I have the Traeger Ironwood 885. Could not connect to the WiFi. The android phone would not connect to the smoker. On the phone with the Trager Rep from Canada. Tried several procedures, no luck. He is sending me a new controller. I have a WiFi extender, still no luck.

What Firmware is currently installed on your WiFIRE Controller? Menu->Settings->About Grill ... curious if you have 2.00.00 or earlier ...

I had the same problem with my timberline 850. Waited over a month to get my replacement Controller and installed it this morning. I am cooking again but can’t get on WiFi. I went through the manual process and everything looked good I could see my 850 in the app. I shut it down and an hou later the app can’t see the 850. I tried resetting WiFi, but the grill sticks at forgetting WiFi and goes no further. Has anyone seen this. I called tech support, requested a callback. I got it two hours later but was disconnected from the call 10 seconds into it.
I finally got a new controller from the company, installed the updates and now it works without any issues. Need to delete old app and cache totally, then restore from App Store to get new controller updated. Don’t believe them when they say just turn it on and it will update itself.

Yep ... once you have the potentially necessary Home Wi-Fi Network "tweaks" in place, the D2 WiFIRE Controller either connects, or it doesn't ... and when it doesn't, that usually means corrupted firmware ... and the need for a replacement controller with Firmware version 02.00.01 at a minimum pre-installed ... If you have a Gen1 AC-powered WiFIRE Controller grill, then you need version 3 of Firmware at a minimum to successfully connect ...

I had spoken with Traeger yesterday and they were sending me a new controller to fix the update problem. The representative I spoke with yesterday called me back this morning, had me delete my grill, and add it back. The updates fixed the grill.
I went through this process FIVE times and the app is still stuck!! ?

Thanks for posting, I just received a new 575 and tried my first cook today but came across this issue. Not confidence inspiring.

Just to clarify, you simply removed the grill from the app, added it once more and a new update was pushed out which resolved the problem?

Cheers
I could not delete my 850 from the app. That’s part of the problem. Treager has stopped returning my calls

Treager returned three of my calls but they were IMMEDIATELY DISCONNECTED in five seconds. ??

The firmware on the smoker is SW version 01.01.06, Config version 05.007

I would call back into Traeger Customer Service, firmly demand that you speak with a Supervisor / Team Lead, and request that a replacement controller be sent out to you with a minimum of Firmware version 2.00.01 ... the list of issues/challenges with 2.00.00 and older (version 01.xx.xx) are difficult/impossible to overcome ... at one point in mid-May, they stopped supporting version 01.xx.xx via the App & Traeger Cloud back-end, but they may have reversed course on that decision ... hard to know for sure since the one person who provided feedback and was able to get it working was located outside the US, and the possibility exists that Traeger has localized Cloud back-ends for Europe, etc., and they may still be supporting version 01.xx.xx via that international instance ... what we do know for certain is that 02.00.01 is a stable build that will connect to your Home Wi-Fi Network ...

I’ve asked to speak with any supervisor and was told; “WE do not have to take any verbal abuse. This is your first warning, you on get two more before we disconnect you from further calls. AND, women rep told me at the beginning of the call “I do not get upset over anything.” WOW, these people still draw a paycheck.
They now do not return any of my calls ??

Sadly these steps don't seem to work for the 575. Forgot network, removed the grill from the app. Added it again and the same problem is appearing
How did you remove the grill from the app? The app is HUNG UP and will not let me do anything. ?

The first thing I did was forget WiFi on the grill. Then opened the app and clicked on the grill at the bottom, then selected remove grill.

Never had an issue removing it from the app to be honest
