Pellets Pit Boss Pellets At Lowes

My Pitt Boss Hickory and Mesquite pellets from Walmart arrived Saturday and today, much sooner than expected.
FYI the bag for the Hickory pellets says it is a "blend" not straight hickory as noted on the website.

To the extent the taste it grants is acceptable. It consumes well and I have had no issues utilizing it. ... The pellets grant a lovely gentle flavor to what I cook which involves taste however I incline toward a more grounded flavor. Still obviously better than a propane flame broil in any event, when I pour in chips to get some genuine wood smoke going. You can have a few at Lowes

Happened to stumble on Pit Boss pellets at Lowes. $9.99 for 20 lb. Haven't tried these yet as I've still got four bags of Bear Mountain from the last twofer deal.

I have been using the Lumber Jack brand. They have about eight varieties. I especially like their Char Hickory Blend. I get them at Rural Kink for $8.88 for 20 lbs.

Pit boss pellets work, but Traeger pellets are better in every way except price.
Traeger Pellets are made with a finer grind of wood sawdust. There are differences.

I just bought a 40lb bag of the Pit Boss pellets at Tractor Supply for $15. They also had Bear Mountain 20lb bags for $9.99. Wood/flavor types were limited.

BM is even better pellet than PitBoss
I planned on grabbing a few bags of BM but they were all ripped. That's the biggest drawback with Tractor Supply in my experience. It seems like anything that comes in a bag has a high chance of making it to the floor with tape on it there.

Where did you find that info? I’d sure like to read that report...
I notice they are also better in dust... They have much more than any brand I’ve ever sifted..🤭

I’m trying to burn through the Traeger pellets and I doubt I’ll buy any more.

You might wanna read this and read the cheap way they are made thru the patent

I do not use Pit Boss pellets, they jammed twice.
Pit Boss pellets are definitely firmer than Traeger pellets. The ones from Traeger crush easily, which makes them easier to feed but contributes to dust issues as they break in the bag. I find most of the brands I have tried are more similar to Pit Boss than Traeger.

I have an Ironwood which has the same auger and motor as your Timberline. I have not had any feeding issue with PB or any other pellets. Perhaps you got a single bag that was unusually hard. The direct drive feed system is pretty beefy, so I am surprised you had an issue. The older corkscrew augers do not appear to be nearly as robust.

Since the D2 system has an auger that can be reversed, were you able to clear your jam that way.

I have run multiple bags of Pit Boss through the 780 and never had an issue. Actually, I tend to like the pellets overall.

Lowes had the 40lb bag Pit Boss on sale for $13 during Memorial Day sale. I grabbed 2. Deal.
