Loss of power

If you had to disconnect from your Home Wi-Fi Network to be able to grill via Dial & Display, then I would say you should probably stay disconnected for now, as no "new" updates have been publicly documented via the WiFIRE Status Page - https://www.traegergrills.com/status
Thanks so much for the information and sharing the status page, I'll be sure to hang on to this.

I got a hold of Support today. No new update to report. They still are working on a fix. ????

Thanks for the update. Is anyone requesting new controllers while we wait for the update or just waiting until it's patched? My ironwood is only a couple of weeks old and don't really want to replace any parts on it but if they are sending out controllers are they assuming this will be needed at some point? So far I'm just running it without the app connected but can't decide if it's worth waiting on hold for several hours to hopefully get a controller shipped.

On the Status page they published "If you have an AC controller running 02 firmware and are having issues connecting it to WiFIRE..." and I brought that up to Customer Service thinking they would send me a new controller. I didn't catch "AC controller" and they said my Pro 575 is not running on an AC Controller. Looks like there are two models, Pro 22 and Pro 34, that have an AC Controller on this comparison. Maybe there are other older models that have an AC controller.

In short, they told me that I need to wait for the software update. They could not provide me a time frame. I'm just speculating here but they released an update on 5/6 and 5/18 so they are capable of releasing updates quickly. I hope for a resolution soon.

D2 WiFIRE Controllers = DC-powered ... the AC-powered WiFIRE Controllers are the ones referred to as Gen1 (there are Gen1 Timberline models & D2 ARC Ironwood models that differ from the D2 WiFIRE Controllers - see the WiFIRE Status Page and start around the halfway point of the scroll downward to see those sections)

The PRO 575 & 780 are "new" models and were only released with the D2 WiFIRE Controller ...

That's great information, thanks for sharing that. Here's to hoping it is resolved soon. TraegerOn

Hello Everyone, so it's been almost 3 months since my last posting. Wanted to check in and see where everyone stands with the loss of power issue. Reading some newer posts about updates that have been pushed out to devices. I'd love to update and start using my app to control my IW 885 but don't really want to deal with those issues we were all having back in the spring. thanks!

Thanks RemE, still hesitant to make the move but that's good to hear. I'll have to try and connect and see what happens (fingers crossed).

No issues on my IW yet with the newest firmware and config.

Only thing I’ve noticed is that the dial becomes responsive a lot quicker when I turn it on. In the past, I’ve had to wait a bit before the dial registered when I was turning it.

That's nice, I do find myself wanting to turn the dial sooner and having to wait. I only got about 3 cooks in before the WiFi issues started, I'm excited about getting the app back for that convenient temp and probe check.

I have a Silverton from Costco. Shuts off for no reason. Just goes blank. I never hooked up to WiFi. My friend tells me the problems started with Traeger when they went to China production. I regret the purchase. Especially after the loss of two racks of ribs...

Solid cord connections at both ends? If power flickers, it might explain things, otherwise it's a bad controller or power supply, this isn't a normal occurrence that I've seen around.

For long cooks, some of us use a small computer UPS to prevent any power glitches stopping a cook.

Checked connections every time it has happened. All good connections. No flickering, just complete blank as if power is killed. Thanks for reply!

Sounds like a Power Supply or Controller issue ... 2 options - engage with Traeger Support via Phone or Chat, or return to Costco as defective and get a new unit ...
