I guess you ordered the competition probe set also…

Relatively new to the group, so please forgive my lack of knowledge when it comes to FireBoard products. My question is how do they compare to Thermoworks? I have a thermopen mk2 and love it. I have the Thermoworks smoke, but am always open to trying "a better mouse trap".
Thanks,
Tim

I emailed them as I ordered last week before the deal as well. Received a return email promptly saying that they would send bonus probes of my choice, just have to pay $3.50 shipping as the original order had already shipped.

Alright! I'll try emailing them as well.

I figured that they would take care of you.

Yes. I didn't expect the small competition probe to be well that small. Now sure what meat that will come in handy for.
I use the short ones as much or more than the longer ones

Pork belly (home made bacon and burnt ends), fish, chicken breast, ribs (if you even use one for ribs, a lot of people go by appearance), "normal" sized steaks, etc.

I too use my short probes way more than my big ones. Abut the only time I use the larger probes is for maybe a brisket or pork butt.

For example, I'll stick the short comp probe in a piece of salmon, set the alarm to 140 or 145, and have a few beers until my alarm tells me it is time to get off my lazy rear and get to eating!

(disclaimer: I confirm temp with a MK4)
Do the MK4 and FB regularly disagree?

Depends on if if you have them both in the exact same spot. I always verify my FireBoard temp with the Thermapen because the FB probe might not be exactly in the thermal center. Since the Thermapen is almost instantaneous, it changes temp as you pull it through the protein, allowing to to easily determine the thermal center
