The Pink Pig has a steel drip plate under the grate. I have been covering it with foil.
I have never had much smoke generated no matter what food I have had on the grill. Should the plate be covered with foil?

I always cover my drip pan with foil, it saves a lot of time when cleaning after a smoke. I see no reason that covering it would have any effect on the amount of smoke produced. It appears that the PP has been discontinued, but the manual is still available in pdf form on the traeger website. It mentions covering the drip plate with foil to make cleaning easier. https://traeger-web-public-prod.s3-...ERS+MANUAL_BBQPIG.01_REV+D+6-15-2015+copy.pdf . Hope this was of some help, welcome to the site.

Thank you for the reply. I was concerned about the foil not getting hot enough. You've answered my question.
