Pellets Bear Mountain

when they run their annual buy one get one free sale.
Then, yeah. Otherwise I'm in lowes at least 2-3 times a week and I have a sifter I use.

I purchased a slotted scoop used to scoop cat litter that I can use to sift pellets. It works well. However, I am currently dumping in pellets without sifting first. The dust does coat the sides of my hopper, but that might act as a lubricant.

Does anyone have evidence that pellet dust causes a problem?

I don't think it is likely, but I do worry about excess dust accumulating in the auger tube and causing a jam or fire.

This is the best sifter on the market:
A little expensive, but it has gone on sale for about $25 in the past.

I suspect the movement of pellets through the auger tube will keep dust from accumulating excessively.

The pitboss I've been using was extremely long pellets, some were 1 1/2" long and I've been wondering why I'm getting weird temp spikes on my long cooks.
I bought Bear Mountain again today and the pellets in the whole bag are no longer than 1/2". As soon as I do another long cook and the rest of the Pitboss are out of my hopper, I'll have an answer which pellet I'm sticking with and why.

IT WAS THE PELLETS!!!!!!!!!!

Those huge long pitboss were giving me those weird temp spikes like crazy, just look at the difference now that I'm using Bear Mountain and not 1 pellet in the bag is over 1/2" long

Obviously I'm sticking with Bear Mountain since I go to Lowes 3 times a week anyway..... BOOM!!!!!

I like the Bear Mountain pellets, but my Lowe's store only stocks the Gourmet blend and the bourbon oak. There is nothing wrong with those, but sometimes I want to try other pellet flavors.

Well, I agree, but until I'm close to a Tractor Supply, this will do for now.
I ended up with tons of PitBoss cuz of COVID and the sales at Lowes were with FREE delivery... not anymore.
So it's back the the BEAR for me.
