Ash Vacuum

I have a little Shop Vac on wheels that I use to vacuum out the ash in my grill.

Like others I went with the Shop-Vac Micro. Not a true ash vac but it’s super portable, doesn’t take up much space and low cost.

I know the feeling so I purchased the 10' from amazon.com

Nice. I just might get that. I bought the accessory kit today. I look forward to using the small tube to get in some of the small spaces.

I had picked up a Bucket head, initially to swap out pellets but the small diameter hose was problematic. So, I decided to use it as my ash vac, but the small stiff hose and the short power cord meant dragging out an extension. It also clogged the filter bag pretty fast with the fine ash.

My final solution is now a portable 18V Ryobi Wet/Dry mini shop vac since I have many of their tools and batteries already. It is light, flexible hose with crevasse tools etc., powerful, easier to clean, and smaller.

I use a dewalt vac i got free with a combo set. Its corded or 20v battery operated.

I made grill only decals for it so it doesn't get used for something else.

I use a rigid 5 gallon shop vac so that I can take the filter out when I want to clean my propane grill and have the filter in when I want to clean up the ash on the Timberline. I use a bucket head for the pellet removal if I want to use different pellets on another cook.

My wife got a new Dyson Animal v11 "because it was on sale" so while she was unboxing that, I snagged the old animal along with the crevice attachment. It's kinda bulky but gets the fire pot really clean and does a good job around the edges.

If you are interested in a cordless shop vac... Project Farm on YouTube put out a nice comparison video today. I'm currently using the Bosch cordless Vac and it does OK.

On a very quick glance, it appears that review vid is informative.

I'm a cordless vac user for my smokers and fireplace; I have a Porter-Cable vac along with a tabletop work light for nighttime cooking visibility and a reciprocating saw for cutting-down 3" dia. splits into wood chunks when needed.
