2.01.03 Update THE ONLY THING GOOD IN 2020

I got a T prefix on my update.
I just got my Timberline 850 on Monday of this week. I have left it on for the last 2 days, the halo is lit no display showing. I checked mine this morn, it shows:
Firmware-T2.00.03
Config----08.003
Should I just leave it in standby mode?

Yes, a day to two should get it.

We have left our 850 on now for five or so days. Firmware T2.00.03 and config version 08.004... should I learn more patience?

We got it a little over a week ago and it immediately did, or claimed to do, a software download/update. I was not as smart then as I am now, I wouldn’t bet my life it really did the update as there was a bit of confusion on the owner’s part. :)

The assumption is that your Firmware has been updated from 02.00.01 to T2.00.03, as the latter is a "new" Firmware release as of August 2020 and most/all grills have been sitting in inventory for a period of time ... the Config Version update to 08.005 for your Timberline 850 is what is "missing" ... since you have 08.004, you should already be able to select 500 degrees (if needed/desired) ... what is changed/fixed from 08.004->.005 is not publicly documented ... as of late, it does appear that the Config Version updates are lagging behind the Firmware Updates by upwards of 2 weeks, whereas in the past (May Update release), it generally happened within 24-48 Hours ...

Ya, Just leave it in standby, it will eventually get the upgrade to the config.

As mentioned, it's not known exactly what changed between 08.004 and 08.005 but if they changed something it must be worth installing, my opinion.

I will say that there was a noticeable improvement in starting and temp stability with T2.00.03.

I leave my grill unplugged when not in use. When I go to use it it automatically updates firmware as soon as I turn it on. I flip the switch and push the button to start the controller and it tells me that firmware update is in progress, do not turn off. As far as the app, I don't know when it updates, I just see different screens once in a while.

Since updates are a 2-step process (Firmware first, followed by Config Version), I am curious what version(s) are installed on your PRO 575. My guess is you're current on Firmware (02.01.03), but if you're powering down after every grilling session, your Config Version is probably lagging behind a bit (current = 04.016) ... care to share what versions are installed?

App update behavior will depend on how your App Device is setup - if you've configured it to automatically install updates, then you should be current (iOS = 2.0.10b2 | Android = 2.0.8) ...

It does look like they changed the clean message. Mine just put up something like "it's time to get out the shop vac and clean the grill". I don't recall it being that friendly?

Just used it on Monday for the first time in a few weeks. It's running Firmware: V 02.01.03 Config: V 04.016

My Pro 575 always had that but it doesn't know when I've cleaned it, which is more frequently than that notice pops up. So I just clear the notice and ignore it.

Then you're completely up-to-date ... the throttling of the Config Version update with the August 2020 Update release is leaving a lot of folks waiting upwards of 2+ weeks for the latest version to be installed ... that wasn't the experience in prior releases ...

Mine says clean grease trap every time I start up, even after clearing notifications. Annoying. Have only 4 stupid cooks on it since July, waiting for more parts. Not even a drip of grease in the FRONT tray yet. The screen message I'm waiting for: "Yes I am a lemon, yes you have replaced many parts so please take me back to your dealer and they will replace me."

Mine did that as well with the grease pan warning, I cleared notifications a few times and it finally cleared, I thought it was odd at the time.

The Please vac grill message cleared with just 1 attempt.
