I can't pair grill to phone. I have -50dbm signal strength. Tried scanning code and tried setting up manually. Pairing progress ring just keeps spinning with no results. My grill firmware is T2.00.03
while the app is 2.1.1.. Any suggestions?

Traegers are notorious for giving people anxiety when trying to connect to Wi-Fi. First and foremost the Wi-Fi networks should be 2.4 GHz only and support the most basic encryption type with a simple password like 12345678. Also the Wi-Fi name should be simple all lowercase and no more than eight letters. I specifically designed an additional Wi-Fi network in my house just for the damn Traeger. I’m not bragging when I tell you that I have been in the IT business for 25 years and the damn Traeger pissed me off more than any other device I’ve worked with recently.

Thx Yalltech! I've done enough research to discover that Traeger is having issues with this and it's not just me. I'm online with your suggestions. I also tried a network reset on controller but Traeger's protocol of pressing ignite button for 15 seconds while in wifi information doesn't work. I'm also trying to do all this while I'm in the middle of a 9 hr cook. I'll try again when I'm done. It might be
time to call Customer Service. I'll post a resolution when it comes. Thank you!

Try this!
On the Traeger controller, forget all network connections.
Force Close the app on your device.

Open network settings on your device, and manually connect to the grill ( yes, I know that the grill and your device need to be connected to Traeger, and not each other, but I have verified that this sometimes works)
Open the app on your phone, and see if you can pair.
If you are able to pair your grill, go back to network settings on your device, and forget the grill network. If successful, both the grill and your device should connect to Traeger.

I can connect to the grill fine. When I do my internet is so slow I can't even open the app. Not even when I stand right next to the grill.
Is that normal?

I didn’t have any trouble opening the app, when connected to the grill and not my network, but I have a Timberline, and it has an external WiFi antenna. Seems to me that if your phone can see it as a valid connection, it should work

I think I know what is happening. The app is trying to connect to your network, and you aren’t connected to that...
Log out of Traeger on the app, and then it should work

rebooted everything multiple times; uninstalled/reinstalled everything several times; confirmed 2.4 GHz every time. hours later, finally found a /reddit post - "add grill from a different device" - grabbed my very old iPhone, logged in my Traeger account, added grill, had to search for wifi a second time, but then it connected, and showed up without additional effort on my android phone (where I had set it up 15 months ago at grill purchase). such an incredibly basic "try this", though it requires another device (which if you bought WiFire Traeger, surely you have two devices). Hope this helps save you time/frustration.
