Grill
Traeger Pro 575 / Weber Genesis / Weber 28” Griddle / Orion Cooker
Speaking of griddles, is this new or just new to me? Comes in substantially less expensive than new Traeger, but also looks to not be made as well? Only review I’ve seen described it as a “toy” which is disappointing. But…..it’s $450 so half of the Flatrock.

I’d be surprised if it’s not a decent entry but I lacks any gingerbread to distinguish itself except the great Weber lineage. I’ve heard they have another one on the way. Maybe a larger model?

Yeah….seems pretty basic. Maybe something larger or more in the $900 category as a competition to the Flatrock

Although as you pointed out it’s priced lower and will likely work great. Might be perfect in that mid range category. If you have the Weber next to a BStone same price, many will go with the reputation of Weber IMO. 🤷🏼‍♂️

Time will tell.

So….putting this here instead of the cooking thread.

As many of you know I recently got the Weber Griddle so figured I’d post a few thoughts. I’m on my phone so bear with me and pardon my typos. The instructions for assembly were I thought very clear. I put it together by myself and it took about an hour and a half, but I wasn’t hustling at all and I took a work calls from a west coast client at some point. Everything fit and you didn’t have to bend and force things to go places. I was a bit skeptical about the only two wheels thing because I hated that about my 575, but this moved around really easy. It’s not heavy. That’s said, I didn’t find it to be a “toy” either. It’s not the showstopper the Flatrock is, but it’s also half the price. The legs are sturdy and so are the shelves. The top is a bit light though. Sorts disappointing, but if it holds up well and protects the griddle then this could end up being a blessing in disguise as it isn’t hinged.

It’s fires up easily and quickly. You don’t have to push an igniter button which could be convenient down the road. Heat distribution seems good in my limited use of seasoning it in and one cook. I checked it periodically and other than the very front of the griddle it was relatively consistent. My right side was a little cooler. On high this sucker gets hit…..like 600+. I’m not sure I’ll ever need that but I guess it’s there just in case.

First cook went relatively well. Put some oil down for the peppers and onions and they didn’t stick at all. The sliced ribeye however did a little bit, but it came clean. Idk….maybe I didn’t season it quite good enough.

Oh well that’s pretty much it for now. I’m happy with my purchase. Looking forward to more meals on it. Thinking I may do a handful more fatty cooks before pancakes and eggs
