Help! Traeger turns meat black

Ok thanks for the advice! It’s still too warm to pull apart and tinker with right now. I’ll give it a go tomorrow and see what I can find. Hopefully it’s a simple fix!

you better get that transmission looked at, I think it's slippin!!!!

Well guys, sorry it took so long to get back on here with an update. I cleaned it out again, couldn’t find any oil, grease, soot, etc hiding anywhere. I also replaced the fan just incase. Still no luck, I threw some chicken on tonight and same outcome…

Is it still smoking out the hopper?

What kind of internal temp are getting out of it? Does the smoke/soot change from say 200 to 350 degrees? Will it even hit a higher temp?

The smoke is no longer coming out of the hopper, the stack doesn’t not apparent to be clogged up, I did give it a good scrape and sprayed then wiped down inside the stack with the traeger cleaner. I have not tried cooking at different temperature yet to see if it changes the coloring or not. I’ll give that a shot next time and see if it makes a difference. I am able to get the temperature above 350 though

I would suggest that you try the bread test. Using a loaf of white bread, place the slices on the grate. The test is used to check hot spots but maybe you can use it to determine the source. Also cheaper.
