Updates to the app have sort of fixed it, the notifications work but arrive randomly often late and sometimes twice for the same event.

Yep, next day push notifications, it's a short walk to the grill though. Hopefully they are working on it...

For those with the new update Android 2.0.2, is anyone getting notifications / alerts / timer on the phone?

For me everything works fine except the alerts.

I cannot get the display of temperature and timer settings right. Trager said it is Verizon. Verizon says Huh? I get an oversize double zero that covers the actual number. When I try to set the timer, I get a double bar in the timer section. If I count the inputs I can get it but cannot read it on the app
