Looking into restoring a 070.... For those that have done restorations. Any advice/recommendations are greatly appreciated. Any tips on rust removal, degreasers, special tools? TIA!

This is the first 070 model I’ve come across that has a silver lid & silver hopper lid...

Also would like to run down a traeger badge for the lid.....

That is quite a project, but like yourself I like those kind of things. I don't know how large a city you live in, but I will suggest some things I do. Where I live there are a couple of companies that do sand blast and glass bead. I can haul a steel piece over and have it blasted down to clean metal, and then re-coat with high temp paint. If you start sanding and cleaning be sure to wear a good dust mask for your safety. You will have some time in it, but when its finished it will be like new. All the best.

Good Advice!
I’m pricing different sand blasting businesses now... These older traeger’s are really tough to beat when it comes to the quality of the build/material. All the rust is contained to the outer structure. No areas of rust penetrating through the metal. Be a nice winter project especially for the price I got it for.. I can stand to put a few dollars in it... Appreciate the feedback!

Cheers!
