temperature rising

When I open the lid to my Traeger Timberline 1300, the temperature rises immediately quite a bit. It comes down when the lid closes. Is there a temperature probe that could be spiking when the lid is open? It's weird...

Since it’s virtually impossible for the temp to rise when you open the lid, you probably have a problem with the ambient probe or maybe the controller is interpreting the info incorrectly. Have you verified the internal temp with an accurate probe like the FireBoard or Thermoworks?

Yeah, I know the temperature isn’t “actually “ rising when I open the lid. I don’t know what the ambient price is.

Until you verify the pit temp with an accurate thermometer, you don’t know what is going on. No, the Traeger meat probe won’t work, because it’s wildly inaccurate.
