Squirrels love my Traeger! How do i keep them out?

great idea, i think this will be the easiest and quickest solution. Do you think the dust from the steel wool will get all over the place and down the chimney?
Steel wool will rust a bit from being exposed to the elements. You could always put a rag in first to stop it from going down the stack
The wire screen mesh should work, as long as it is a metal mess and not something they can eat

just got my parts and gave the chimney some personality. Should I remove the mesh and clamp prior to using the grill?

thanks for the help everyone.

I have a Pro 780 grill and the squirrels seem to like to nest in the firebox. They seem to get in through the chimney. I have tried to block the bottom of the chimney with a cutting board, but the squirrels seem to kick it down.

Can someone recommend a removable stopper that I can put at the top of the chimney or something removable that I can lock in place at the end of the chimney?

thanks in advance as I feel like I am hoarding all of Traeger's grill cleaner products.
I know this isn't an answer but, fire up the grill and have BBQ Squirrel! Don't forget to scrape off the hair.

I use Fresh Cab Botanical Rodent Repellent. Seems to work on all critters. I put a pack in both the grill area and the pellet box.

Your lucky. I just trapped 3 squirrels living underneath my roof. Trapped and released 2 miles away in a local city park. Just saw 3 more yesterday morning. I hope it’s not the same 3?

I love my Benjamin Trail .22 break barrel pellet gun. Tree rats that begin chewing on anything on my back deck or BBQ patio become part of the cycle of life right quick. They are usually gone by 10 PM.
