smoker quits heating, lose temp and have to restart on smoke and then it does it again

A month ago I used it it went to 500 degrees before I shut it off. Today I set it on 250. Everything working good. After about an hour it started it lost temperature to outside temp. I restarted on smoke and set on 250 again. Lost temp again after heating up to 250???????

Make sure auger is turning and unobstructed, make sure firepot and the holes in the firepot are open, make sure fan is working. If these are ok, replace the rtd. If still inoperative, probably needs controller replaced. Is it still under warranty? If so call Traeger.

Do you NOT HEAR the fan when it looses temp??? Does it actually go into "shut down mode'
Please try to give a few more details, What "pro series" do you have?? Like Timmy said, HOW OLD?? Did you read your owner's manual 's trouble shoot area??? When was the last time you CLEANED it?? Did you DRAIN your HOPPER to see if it's just filled with DUST instead of good pellets?
