In the past I used to buy some coffee that a friend would make that was smoked. He used pecan and would cold smoke the beans on his offset smoker. I really liked the flavor of his coffee. Not sure the bean he used. The smoke seems to tame the bitterness you find in some coffees. I drink the McCafé premium roast which is 100% arabica and is a medium roast. I measured out enough grounds for 4 cups of coffee and spread the grounds thin on a piece of aluminum foil. I set the traeger 22 pro to smoke and set them on the top rack. I let them go for 1.5 hours. Didn’t want go too long because I was not sure if it would work. I pulled them off and they had a mild smoke smell. I brewed a cup and it turned out really good. It has a light smoky smell and the taste comes in on the back of the pallet after you swallow it. It’s not overpowering and did tame some of the bitterness. I hope this gives y’all some ideas on maybe trying it yourself. As far as the pellets, I used bear mountain oak.

Question did you use green beans or already roasted. I roast my own and have never tried a roast on the smoker. With green beans I listen for the first or second crack sound depending on how dark I want the roast. I don't think I could control the timing as close on my smoker. If you are using already roasted beans, I might give it a try. Thanks for the info.

Will definitely try this. Smoked salt and spices are so much better. Have done smoked ice cubes and they were great in cocktails. Smoked coffee, interesting, and thanks for sharing with us. Look forward to hearing from any others that try it as well
