I know -28 is cold but I cannot get my traeger to run. Slow Ignition warning to shut down completely. I don't have a welding blanket on it as of yet. I have cleaned it vacuumed you name it. It does squeak when starting cause the auger is so cold. Anybody run there traeger in very cold weather.

Mine ran all night since 12:15am it was 5f above zero. It is still running now I think it’s 2f and dropping. On cold days it takes longer. I assume you primed the auger, make sure there are pellets covering the hot rod. (Small handful, between 1/4 to 1/2 cup). Mine took about 25 mins to start. I do have a fire blanket over it after it starts.

I did my Christmas turkey at -20 C ish. I was pretty worried that it wouldn’t work. (See cold weather smoking forum). It worked great, but the Bronson 20 moaned and groaned a lot. I think because it’s low tech it was less affected by the cold. I’m not smoking anything until it warms up to -20 C. Haha so damn cold in Alberta.
