Pro 575 firmware current version

I don't think you should worry about this. If you leave the grill on then it will automatically update, but you don't have to leave it on just for this. If you switch it off, as most of us do, then it will automatically update when you switch in on the next time. I mentioned this in one of my posts:

Well, when I switched on the grill I get this:

Fortunately, that didn't take too long

You can go into the settings on the app. The firmware is updated automatically.

Hey all,

I just received my new Pro 575 and when attempting a low temp cook (180), the temp read out was 20-40 degrees over what I had set, reaching all the way up to 230. I reached out to support and they noted that my firmware is out of date and may be causing the swings. He said I should be on V 02.02.01 and I currently have 02.01.03. Does anyone have this 02.02.01? I've left my grill on overnight a few times and it hasn't gotten this update yet. I've also deleted and re-paired with the Traeger app and it hasn't made a difference.

Any thoughts?
I have version 02.02.01. I'm having control issues at 180-200. Tech support said new version is coming in August.

i just bought a pro 575, same problem. when i contacted traeger they told me 25 - 40 degrees is normal fluctuation, needless to say i'm not impressed with traeger.

Traeger appears to have changed their marketing strategy and specs recently. When I got my Pro 780 in late Dec 2020 they listed the specs for the D2 to be +/- 5 degrees and the non-D2 to be 15 or 20 degrees (can't remember exactly which now). This is why you can change the temp in 5 degree increments on the D2.

I didn't find anything on the Traeger web site but Home Depot lists the accuracy for the Pro 34 (non D2) to be within 15 degrees (with stated criteria) and they have zero mention of the accuracy on the Pro 575/780, at least that I could find.

When it's hot out, the grill will not maintain a low temp. It seems to have a minimum variation between ambient temps and what it can maintain for a low. My controller reads higher than the real temp and at 400*, it's a 50* difference. I monitor the temps with a Fireboard and the sawtooth is tight, like less than 10* swing and more like a 5* swing.

What?! That's absurd. I'm not impressed, either. A 40 degree fluctuation is not normal. I bought mine from Amazon, and I'm wanting to return it, but don't know if they'd take it back. I don't want to bother with trying to take it apart and try to fit it back in the box. I would not trust this thing with a brisket overnight.

This sounds like it's kicking the can down the road now compared to with what they told me. Do you have to same experience where it operates normally higher than 300 deg? I just want a grill that works. I don't want to be chatting back and forth the support and shipping controllers and equipment back and forth.

Seems like pretty poor design. I wonder why, since it's built like a tank. I also really dislike the thermocoupler location. I've banged into it a few times taking out the bottom grill grates.

They changed their marketing alright. To a load of garbage

This is from the user manual of the 575. "Some temperature fluctuations". Very technical language.

Update - received a new controller. Firmware is the same as it was before and didn’t update when I paired it to wireless. Set it to lowest temp. Doesnt get below 220 still. This thing is always going to make me nervous. Should have went RecTec…

Eh, then you'd just be on a Rec Tec site being upset with their temp fluctuations. ;)

How long did you let the grill try and stabilize? My 780 always overshoots at start up. I do two things: 1) open the lid once or twice to cool down, and 2) just give it time to level off. It can take 15-30 mins.

mine especially does this when I try and go that low.....165 that is.

In this example, probably around 20 minutes. I mentioned in the OP my first cook was at 180 and stayed welll above it for hours. This was in the sun, however. All of my other cooks have been on the edge of my garage, in the shade. The difference seems to have been negligible. I suppose I’d give it too much credit to account for the outside temp.

I’m any case, if I knew the pro 575/780 controllers weren’t as good as advertised, I would’ve just gotten a Pro 34 with more grillestate for less money (though I did catch the 575 for 699 on prime day at least).

So if the pit actually is reading, say, 40 degrees lower than what the controller is spitting out, then I’d have to increase the temp to make up for it. But how do I know it won’t start normalizing when the sun goes down or there is a breeze or something else. It just feels deceiving as their marketing relies on …. Lies. Just frustrating. Again, my fault for the impulse purchase. I’ve only ever had kettles in the past.

and re: rectec. I haven’t seen any complaints about pit temps that I could find on their forums. But I didn’t spend much time on it. I saw a post here, but I believe it was referring to the meat probes

I just googled rec tec probe problems
