I have a 575 and if you have one ambient probe and it is the threaded type then mount it as close as possible to the Traeger one. To open the hopper I have to bend the flexible part just a bit. If you want it closer to the original then you will have to drill through the hopper box and use a grommet to stop pellets falling out.

So I think that's a 3/4 (or whatever the size hole is in your Traeger) hole that the probe rubber grommet fits into... you would drill this hole threw your hopper, then drill for the probe in the pit wall, install the probe, run the wire between the pit and the hopper, plug the hopper hole with a NEW probe grommet and DO NOT puncture the grommet which is solid until you do... this will stop the pellets.

I'm planning on doing this in the spring... for the next 2 months it's "knee replacement" for me... I'll be laying low for a while.
