Paint peeling/Bubbling

This is what my 4 month old Pro 575 looks like after a minor flare up from 1 small piece of salmon. I have an old beat up $200 dyna-glo gas grill that has handled 8 years of far more intense and extended heat that has worn much better than this.

Spoke with a very reasonable customer service rep who was refreshingly empathetic and understanding. After an extended hold for 'management review' they came back with a clear hesitancy in their voice to deliver the bad news. Mgmt would not honor the warranty on paint for my $800 investment, but would offer me a $70 drip pan as a consolation.

Nice to read that not everyone got shafted, but really wish I had seen threads like this prior to my investment. This brand is clearly not manufacturing the same quality of product or delivering the same level of customer service as their reputation once suggested.

Try again after it starts to rust. That should not take long. They just replaced mine which bubbled then started rusting after 5 weeks. If it happens again, I'm asking for my money back.

same issue, had one flare up the 2nd time i used the grill and paint bubbled up and sluffed off in the same spot. didnt want to hull the grill back down from the deck so just got some high temp black paint. sanded off the little bit of surface rust (only took 24hrs to develop it) and painted both the back panel and lower back right corner of the grill. was really disappointed with the QC, for $1800 I expected this to last quite a bit longer.

Same issue here too - been using the grill for about 1 year smoking various meats with no issue. Used it over the weekend to smoke some ribs and then turned up the heat to 450 to grill corn. After cranking up the temp it began to generate excessive smoke and when I went out to check on it I noticed the paint blistered on the front right corner and around the drip port on the side. Up until now is has been an excellent grill. I contacted support this morning and after a long conversation and video call so they could see the grill damage the support engineer decided he thought it was the result of a grease fire and said I was out of luck. Well I guess that Traeger has experienced so many issues with the poor performance of their grill coating and replacing units in the past that they no longer stand behind their product for this issue. This is a very poor design. I have a Weber kettle grill that is about 12 years old and the coating is still like new and it has seen temps that far exceed the temp in the Traeger. This is the first and last Traeger for me.

Update: Someone from Traeger reached out after my survey comments earlier today and advised that Traeger has decided to replace my housing that was damaged. Kudos to them for stepping up and ensuring that the customer is satisfied - thanks Traeger.

The same has happened to us, but just after a few uses of our Timberline 850. We followed by the letter the instructions provided by Traeger on installing, seasoning and operating the grill, even the recipes were from the Traeger app.

To us, it followed reason that if the grill overheated causing damage to the exterior paint is most likely because it is somehow defective. It is also only sensible to assume that the grill is unsafe. Sadly, we got the exact same response from Traeger - that it was the result of a grease fire, which is not covered by warranty, and that we should simply repaint the damaged areas. This is clearly not an acceptable solution, particularly with respect to the safety concerns.

We spent top dollars for our grill, which promised to be a perfect grill for smoking low and slow, still allowing searing of the meat, with the high tech smarts to control the whole cooking process. Yet, reading this forum it is clear that Traeger has a problem with defective grills. Buyer beware.

The peeling issue is not a safeties issue. The steel Traeger contains the fire just fine. The paint is the issue, if Traeger used porcelain like Webber does there would be no problems. That's their design flaw.
